Wurth dry chain lube

    Did the chain with this last night.... do i need a wax on top? Seems top stuff, no fling after getting to work today, but cant see it on the chain.:confused:

    its just a spray.... its really good.... need to clean my chain and start again with this

    No sorry I know Its a spray I use it but I apply it using a brush it goes everywhere when I spray it,but I am a messy git.

    Its great stuff mate. Read a test in a bike mag years ago and it came out top for lack of "fling-ability" Just ran out so need to re stock...

    I just spray the center of the chain and as said works really well. Used many other makes but found wurth the best at keeping the chain in good nick

    I use this too & I find its best to put it on Just after you've been on the bike so the chain is nice & warm

    i think i will be go in a few weeks. its about 9 quid a local bike shop...

    need to clean all this other stuff off first

    Just a hint of engine oil on mine after a rub with a paraffin rag.

    I dont think modern chains actually need lubrication as such; its more to stop corrosion.

    imo of course :D

    Popped into the local Wurth today. 2 x 500 ml cans of dry lube and a 500 ml can of brake cleaner was £18. Much cheaper than eBay!

    The lube keeps the rubber rings in good order doesn't it? (Which keep the actual lubrication for the chain intact).

    Yep thats correct, you are just trying to stop the O/X rings from drying out and cracking, which in turn stops the internal lubricant of the bushes from being washed away, which if allowed causes metal to metal contact and wear, its this which causes chain 'stretch', the side plates never wear, by product is that a good lube will also stop the side plates from rusting.

    Hence why it is best to lube one side of the chain, then the other, ie aim the lube at the O rings, when the chain is warm or hot, it allows the lube to both penetrate better and evaporate quicker and dry.

    Just a heads up. Been looking as I need some new Wurth dry chain lube. Demon Tweets £8.99 for 500mil. Most places on eBay want anything from £8.99 up to £12 for the same can.

    Bare in mind you are going to get discount on top of that from Andy at DT I think I'm going to be giving him a bell tomorrow :)
