City Of London Coppers were round there this morning. Apparently 5 bikes nicked from the car park and surrounding streets in the last week. They've moved away from Whites Row and are now targeting the area around Tower Hill, The Minories etc.

He did mention that disc locks have been useless so far... Chains are proving to be a saviour...

Be nice if the car parks provided more facilities for chains though...

TBH I'd avoid all city car parks as myself and another forum member both had our bikes stolen from Whites row car park behind Liverpool st and that is manned by 2 security guards and they lifted the bikes from in front of the security desk in full view....

The underground NCP in Chinatown is pick'n' mix for thieves apparently. Need decent tethering points, as said.

Mine went in Feb from Whites Row. TBH not a lot the guards can do... Although I do notice that Minories attendants seem a bit more proactive in their checks (Usually see them hanging around the bike level and at the entrance as well keeping any eye out).

Funny that, I wrote to the City of London Corporation last year suggesting that the way foward to help combat bike theft was to provide more chain anchoring points/barriers in the car park and this was the reply, I suggest anyone parking there writes to this guy and just keep hammering away, amazes me with the barriers, cctv, security walking around, etc they see nothing.

Basic reply is thanks for letting us know the obvious, now piss off as it will mean we will have to spend some of the billions we have on deposit

The old bill in the City are useless on bike theft, they just say 'its very hard to stop they are very quick' funny how a guy can fart and they detect it from 2 miles, but when it comes to bike theft, CCTV every 2 yards and they don't see a thing

I regret to advise that we have no plans at present to install more railing into the motorcycle bays at Minories Car Park.

We will however bare the idea in mind should funds become available to us for minor works such as this.

Many thanks for taking the trouble to raise this with us.

    Regards
