Been gagging to get out on the bike all weekend... So managed a few hours today, met at 10am and four of us headed out down to rye...

Tbh it was a fcuking nightmare.... Hundreds of posing knobs on bikes that get riden twice a year, thousands of cars around and masses and I mean MASSES of bikes heading toward the mayday run at Hastings.... Seriously what's the point!?! Just don't get riding in huge groups at 50mph in self caused traffic?? All under an overly watchful eye from the boys in blue...

We soon peeled off the beaten tack and headed to rye which was also murder, five mins stop and we headed cross country and found the back roads away from the coast and had a decent run back. Still way too many cars though.

Knew it'd be busy and sort of wish I hadn't bothered... Although, bike time is bike time so can't complain.

Just dont get these guys that spend all that money and only use them on stupidly busy days like today, there were more bikes parked up than on the roads??

And don't get me started on how many dicati's I saw today?? Lol

Anyway, little rant over... Can't wait till Thursday to head to Scotland on quiet roads with real bikers in the pissing down rain!!

That's the life for me ;)

It was though mate, still got out with my pals and had a decent ride... Once we avoided all the posers riding in convoy down to the coast so they could stand and look at their bikes all day lol

I had DIY day, then just had 2 hours from 7pm on bike - perfect apart from low sun, almost no traffic and zero cops

I knew today everywhere would be bad - just wait for Thursday and turn up your heated grips and enjoy the rain!

The Ducatisti head out in numbers cos they know about a third of the bikes are going to break down/dissolve in a sea breeze. And the only people who'll stop to help them are the other Ducati riders.

Whereas Fireblade riders want to crack on down some decent roads, park up and talk sandals.

Don't go out on bank holidays now if I can help it. Too many rozzers, too many cars and old duffers taking in the scenery looking for places to picnic.

my day off is tomorrow, it'll be quiet so a nice run out whilst everyone is at work.

    happy days.

I tried to get to Scotland on Thurs for the day to join the guys for part of the run up, but I'm in work on my own Thurs, so no chance. Always next time though......

Very rare for me to venture out on a bank holiday but due to near 8 months of frost a really hot day promised ( which didn't happen) and some good lads off here I decided to have a run to Wales which up here is like voodoo for obvious reasons anyhow maybe due to the recession most of Wales was closed with light traffic and what traffic there was ,was mainly made up of locals and very few bikes out .

I get the fact that many people have family pressures so not always easy to get out on the bike etc.... But if you had a day to ride, surely you'd actually want to do just that!?

We wanted to stay away from May Day, but touched on the route down and it looked ridiculous....

Just don't get that side of biking. Love having a laugh with my pals and the banter at the stops etc is great, but how long can you stand around talking bikes without riding the bloody thing

Guess that's why you see so many 5 year old bikes with 3k on the clock.

I get where you are coming from mate.
I am the same when I hear about these 'memorial rides' and 'charity rides' and that sort of thing.
Ok, good causes and all that.
But I just don't see the appeal of riding through town centres, escorted by police, with loads of choppers and Harleys, and riders with stupid ears and tails on their lids, and all at 20mph.

Ok, I don't get out on mine as often as I would like, but I prefer quieter roads and try not to go near the busy hotspot, bar the Green Welly or Inverary.

Agree with Jimbo I live right on the road to rye and about 7 o'clock the bikes started coming past so I knew what rye was going to be like so decided to pack the bike ready for Thursday, spoke to some other lads I go out with and they said Hastings was just full of knobs doing there Rossi thing the old bill where having a field day pulling them

Ive just got back from a long weekend in scotland last night and I can confirm that it literally did piss down the whole time we were there, still my wet weather riding has improved loads! It did brighten up for applecross-kyle of lochalsh which was awesome in the dry. Hope the weather holds out better for you jimbo!! :)

Jimbo, i ride quite a bit around the Rye area and although it's nice to be on quite roads most of the time sometimes its nice to go to these meets to see other bikes, friends and just chill out by the sea. Agree there are a lot of twats but there is in any pastime you just have to laugh at them!! There was some very nice bike down there and it's still better than diy or gardening.

anything bike related is better than DIY or gardening mate...

i ride that way all the time too mate, as there are some great roads that way, and also love a stop and wonder amongst the bikes, have a chat and a cuppa, my only point though was surely the main event of riding a bike should be riding the bike. So many yesterday just wanted to stand around all day posing in leather!?

like to get away from it and do some miles away from HUGE crowds of bikes stuck in traffic, just not my bag thats all.

Jimbo the ones that really make me laugh are the ones that get out of cars and put leather bike jackets on!!! and i did actually see some do it. Must admit i also like riding just to get away from it all.

It was manic, glad we got some decent riding in on the way home.

Problem is some of those dudes were dangerous IMO, If you want to ride slow taking in the world, absolutely fine but be aware of others around you and get out of the Fooking way and don't make things worse by riding side by side, plenty of time to admire each others bikes when you've stopped when you reach wherever it is your going.
