Just wondered: My Blade has a SS Yoshi R-77 fitted and the seller gave me the baffle with it. Its never been fitted and probably never will be but the instructions don't make it clear how it fits? There appears to be a threaded insert in the baffle itself that I have managed to get a 30mm x 6mm bolt into (he couldn't supply the bolt. This screws in nicely. This size bolt doesn't however doesn't screw into the hole in the side of the can. Is the baffle held in by the bolt just sitting in this hole rather than screwing into it stopping you pulling the baffle out again or should it also screw into a thread inside the hole in the can? Cheers!
Can you put the bolt through the exhaust first going into the baffle, so the head on the outside? Make sense???
MOz, Most of the baffles i have seen have a threaded section on the baffle and a hole in the exhaust side which the bolt is able to fit in without screwing. Fitting:- the baffle is slid inside the exhaust and the bolt screwed into the threads on the baffle then tighten the bolt up n job done! See if this clears up the issue. http://www.youtube.com/watch?nomobile=1&v=dvvl9-krXAU&feature=youtube_gdata_player (geez how much p1ssin about is it to add a video to a forum)
No, there is no hole on the outside of the can (like on an Akky). Shiny, There is no hole on the outside of the exhaust to screw the bolt "into" as such. I think the bolt starts inside the baffle itself and outwards into the hole on the inside of the exhaust but I wanted to be sure and get confirmation from another R-77 owner.
On my R77 the hole for the screw is on the side of the can nearest the swing arm. There is normally a rubber blank covering the hole. I slip the baffle in till sits in the bottom of the can then fit the screw. Beware though, I had the screw balanced on an allen key while inserting it into the hole and bleeder dropped off and now lies between the can and the carbon sleeve. Hope this helps a little
i had to file a little bit of the side of the baffle to get it to sit right not a big deal though and ps if you do lose the screw which i have twice hole the can up and rattle it and it always comes out.
The baffle for my Yoshi can is just a ram baffle. the guys who fitted it didn't put it in as they knew I would have wanted it kept off, and they didn't know how to get it back out. Have never looked at it to be honest, but I still have it, longside my standard can that has never been on my bike on the road.
I think I need to have another look at my can. I couldn't see any bung. Just been out to the garage and the can has a rivet (not a bung) on the outside nearest the swingarm which is parallel with the outlet baffle hole. I am going to have to drill this rivet out?????? Seems a bit extreme?? Anyone else had to drill out a rivet to fit the baffle???
Are you sure you have the right size screw MOz. The baffle has been in before, it screws through the baffle into the hole on the inside wall of the can. You may have to adapt, ie file down an allen key to help with this, but other than that it should fit a chocolate covered peanut (treat) They are m and m's now right? D'oh
Hi J I have found a 6mm x 30mm bolt and that's screws through the baffle (which is threaded ok) but trying to screw it into the hole in the inner wall of the can doesn't work. It's almost as if the bolt is too narrow yet it screws into the threaded hole in the baffle ok. It has to be the worse design to secure a baffle I've ever seen.
