Hello fellow blades. Although I'am bladeless :-( I have a thread on New Members section of this forum 'Think I might get a blade'. To summarize, got back into biking after over 20 years. Decided to go for a new Triumph Street TripleR to ease myself back in. Perfect bike for the job, but now feel like getting a sports bike (my previous bike all those years ago was a gixxa 750-R). As Grafton Honda is my local dealer; just wondering if anyone has had any dealings with them, would recommend them or other nearby dealer.
I don't use Honda dealers due to rip off pricing and sometimes bad service. I use a specialist in my area that races as well as being a Suzuki and Ducati delaer with Ducati trained technicians. I find their service excellent and always get the bike back feeling better. It's about 10miles towards Cambridge from Bedford if you are ever interested
Cheers for that. Are you talking about St.Neots Motorcycles? If so, have been in once for a chat when I was thinking about getting a Duke Monster - very nice chaps. Spent a couple of hours chatting with them. I was really enquiring about the sales people at Grafton Honda as I thinking about buying a new/newish blade. Not many newish ones around in the non-franchised dealers at the moment.
Yeah, spotted that after I replied. Looks very nice. Although only been in once to their shop - I did get a great impression from them.
I know them personally and great bunch of guys who do the best service in the area. I've been using them for 2yre and my brother bought his first bike from them. Prices for parts are competitive and labour is fair but more than anything you get a great job done and they always check over the entire bike regardless of the works booked.
Yeah, they do seem the type of bike shop you don't mind parting with your money. Nice bunch. This Repsol blade does look great; but has caused me a bit of a headache as I did want one with ABS for peace of mind. But it does seem a great bike.
Not sure the ABS is the best option due to the worrying fade issues it has and the expense to service the system. Some prefer the feel you can get from non ABS as the ABS is fly by wire so no direct brake feeling returned.... Personally I would never go for the ABS model but traction control sounds more useful especially if they squeeze anymore power out of the lump
That's very interesting. I must admit to being a little ignorant of the finer details of ABS vs non-ABS. Only have really seen the MCN Youtube vid of the first ABS blade, which did look impressive. So, it's not all cracked up to what it is?
There is a huge thread on here on ABS issues. Granted it is quicker slightly on track for braking and is great if you panic brake at high speed but in everyday riding in traffic the system is known to develop it's fade issue to the point of failure and the system is super expensive to maintain. So I asked myself do I need ABS and the answer was no not really....
Cheers for that. Noticed you also live in Bedford : -) Are you a member of any clubs? It would be good to to meet up sometime.
Actually just around the corner from the bike shop but it's not even 10mins ride to Bedford these days Always happy to meet up with fellow bikers, not much in the way of clubs round our way tho unfortunately....
I'll probably join the Oakley MC which is just outside Bedford - big club, with plenty going on for everyone. They meet Thursday nights at Oakley Village Hall. I know it's bit of way out. Why not pop along. I can't make it tonight but hope to next Thursday. I'am not sure if i can or how to message you on this site. Otherwise can contact you if/when I might pop over to St.Neots.
Sounds like fun! I'm just repairing the left side from a little slide down snetty the other week but hopefully good for next Thursday. The left hand mirror arrived today so on the way You can private message me on this forum shoul you ever need to discuss more sensitive topics
Blimey, hope you are ok mate. I'll pm you about the Oakley Club meet next Thursday. Unless weather is dire I'll probably make it. Only went last week - they had an italian theme evening - lot's of very expensive italian exotica. They organise ride outs etc. You can check them out in the meantime oakleymc.net
I am from MK, but haven't used Grafton Honda as my blade is a 09 so do all my servicing myself. My mate goes there and he says they are good, they seem friendly enough. There are a couple of bike groups in MK one meet at the Coachmakers in Newport Pagnell on a Wed, I normally ride with another lot who dont have a specific day to ride, just when its nice. (Triple B, Bikes, Beers & Bollox, Milton keynes bikers) Was at Oakley two weeks ago, its not bad, just dont order food, it takes yonks!!!
