I've just bought a track bike and am thinking of making it my own by possibly spraying it black. Has anyone ever done this and can you suggest what paints etc. to buy and give any tips.

Give it a good rub down with wet and dry and some good ole halfords rattle can paint will do the job.
Other stuff you can do but depends on the finish you want or can be bothered with

Are there any parts that need to be stretched or flexed to fit? If there are you need a plastic paint or will just crack and flake off

Hand cans are shit . best off getting little compressor an spray gun 1/2lit plastic primer & 1 lit of paint matt or gloss for better finish. You'd probably need 5 / 6 cans of primer at £6.00 each an 6 / 8 of black depending on how good you are with a can spray at around the same price coat around £86 in cans

The rub down by hand 8 to 10 hours if you going down to the plastic. I'd take it down my self for better job on prep better paint job at the end. I done this on my own bike in winter :D

Yorkshire, Jimbo Vills and Dave V have done a gleaming matt black spray on Jimbo's track bike. I've seen it in the flesh and it's mustard. Pics are on this forum. Have a root around, shipmate.

froma can after a good rub with 800 grit wet and dry. wet and dry with 2000 smooth then clear coat. of if you ahvea air compressor, do what I did, £23 for a spray gun. 2k paints and clear coat and do it that way.

BUT always take time with prep. most important thing for a good finish.

In the end don't spend too much on a track fairing as it will get scratched. I'm intending to re spray mine this winter,. again
