Also ride round without the farings for a few weeks while changing parts to avoid too much stress on the plastics coming on and off
A brand new standard exhaust is cheap as chips off eBay then resell it when done. If you really get stuck I can post my one over for you to test, it's done about 1,500 miles total.
Not read the whole thread...(on my phone). Sounds like there is a chance the uppers could be blocked, on a GOOD note if it cuts out regularly you should be able to identify when you've fixed it! you can dismantle most of the fuel system and give it close inspection for small particles of dirt, RR8+ don't fire the uppers unless wheel speed is active older blades do so you can blip the throttle and watch the uppers pour fuel into the stacks not easy to do on latter models but would have given chance to observe them fire, one could be down.. second hand uppers are often listed on eBay and some sellers sell them with the air box cheap. Have you bypassed the side stand switch just in case it's a simple issue? From what you have said large amounts of crud in the tank certainly point to fuel starvation as a result of dirt in the injection system. Less than the price of your dealers hourly rate http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-CBR...pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item20ceb1dafe I don't charge as a rule for fault finding that does not yield a result...how can you...? Even then the price is often calculated with the customer based on a day rate rather than an hourly rate which is unfair IMO if it drags on and on. I understand dealers have large over heads but they also have a responsibility to look after there customers, is that not the "Honda" way?
My bikes not had any after market parts fitted except a datatool alarm which has been a pain in the past, but i cant see that causing it. Been running round without my tank cover on . lol. Cheers for the offer of your exhaust Alblade. shame ya not within a 100 miles or would have taken a ride out to ya. Now trying to find the cheapest after market exhaust to fit. see what happens then.
Hi arthurbikemad. your comments about the upper injectors is interesting, as its missing at high revs something effecting them is favourite. Don't know if you could elaborate on the wheel speed bit though please.. Mine will cut in out at standstill so that would eliminate them if there not supposed to be firing at standstill. Again, cheers for the help everyone.
Can get us sent pretty cheap with Hermes lot to save you buying one if you want. If you were near Halifax my mate Chris would have been up to the part swap challenge, he loves tinkering with bikes esp my blade lol
Hi arthurbikemad. your comments about the upper injectors is interesting, as its missing at high revs i think information the ecu is getting and sending out is effecting them. Mine will cut in out at standstill so that would eliminate them if there not supposed to be firing at standstill. ..So don't know If you could elaborate on the wheel speed bit. Cheers.
Ive got my eye on a pipe on ebay at the mo, if i dont win it then may take you up on your kind offer . cheers. Yeah a part swop challenge would a been real cool. Prob be sorted in a day.
New development. I Tried it from stone cold at stand still, which i dont like to do to my bike, it didnt miss a beat!!! couldnt keep it going for too long to see when hot cos the neibours came out complaining.. lol. Took it for a ride up the road and the prob came back..!!! . Aah Fuck this problem...
So next step is start the bike and go for test run without warming it up, if OK find out at what temp. it starts to play up. Repeat it twice if possible so you know for sure its fine when cold - will help narrow fault down I would think.
Check the regulator after a while running, also when revved high, could be over voltage. Also, before spending loads of money, check the simple things. I've known bikes to throw faults through these, and after replacing shit loads of stuff, turned out to be a corroded terminal..!! Through vibration, could be dodgy kill switch, or side stand switch..... Just eliminate both and hard wire short....doesn't cost a penny, and will eliminate straight away. Also, try removing ur air filter, it might look ok, but sucking shed loads of air through at high revs, it might not be. Then change ur spark plugs....probably need doing anyway, might have a dodgy one. Sorry to be blunt, but stuff u can do ur self will be a damn sight cheaper than paying Honda to do it. U never know, it might be a fuel pump, or throttle bodies, but start simple...
Hi Lexwon, yeah sounds good will check that one out. Im going to check the crank knock sensor is that a similar thing? im not sure about all the different sensors, im ok with mechanicals, It does it after 3-4 mins from stone cold so only when it gets warmed up, replaced the exhaust this week and checked the lambda cos symtoms are like the lambda when warmed up is not sending the right signal to the ecu. Cheers man.
