    Doh!

£60 fine for small plate issued on A272 yesterday.

I was pulled over for "non legitimate overtake".. He basically heard me from a mile away and decided he wanted a word.

As there was no speed gun involved etc, he scrutinized my bike and fined me for the plate. After chatting nicely to him, he let me of another £60 for not displaying tax disc.

Oh well, its better than points!

Out of interest, did you have your tax disc with you?

I keep mine under my seat after having two nicked, so I'd have to have an argument with him if he tried fining me for non-display. It's stupid we even have to display it anyway given they can just check on the PNC whether it's taxed or not.

7x5. Had no problems before but ur right, he just wanted to do me for something.

No, i normally have the tax in my back pack but i wasnt wearing it. He did make a point saying if you carry it on you, its a 'different matter' so i assume its ok.

Maybe your tax disc should be a helmet decal.

Careful, the authorities are looking for new money making ideas (eg, helmet tax)

Last Friday went down to Loomies to see what the attraction is as a lot of members are getting nicked. It does offer some nice roads but traffic was too hectic to really enjoy the bike. Did'nt see any coppers so it looks like a weekend purge by uniformed muggers.

I run with a 7x5, Ill wait for my first ever fine then change it. Do you have to replace it and demonstrate doing so?

Don't you just love it when you are on the Motorway and you spot the Traffic car a mile ahead then there is the game of trying to hide behind a truck until it turns off and the Traffic car slows so do you (to keep behind him) so he slows more and you have no choice but to overtake (now doing 50mph) and bingo its a pull.I must say when you do have a normal plate on you have a certain amount of smugness as you do the overtake without an problems.

I was pulled and fined for a small plate about 4 years ago (£30 then).
I always have a legal sized plate since then.

I got stopped last Sunday for allegedly undertaking an unmarked police car, whilst speeding, in the bus lane.
Bike is 100% legal (to the naked eye anyway ;)) and I got off with a warning :)

Exactly steve, that's why I won't run a small plate as it's asking them to pull you, why give them a reason! I did it years ago but haven't all the time I've had a superbike.

Bus lanes would be pretty useless if you couldn't undertake in them !

Lol. Well I had them on my old car for years & no problems. Had them on my current car for about a year when the wife got pulled over driving my car. She said the guy looked like he'd just stepped out of police college.
