Simple really. I have been looking at kits for the blade but when looking at prices such as this M8/8mm FLANGED SOCKET BUTTON A2 STAINLESS STEEL ALLEN KEY HEAD SCREW FAIRING | eBay it seems better just to buy a few packs just in case/when I drop them and loose them Also the trim clips like 10x 6.5-7mm Motorbike Fairing Panel Plastic Trim Clips- Honda Yamaha Suzuki | eBay Anyone know of the sizes of the button headed bolts they use? 6mm and 8mm? seem to be used most. just want to double check Any idea on lengths? would 10-15mm be about right? trim clips, I think the ones for 6.5mm - 7mm holes should be about right Again just really looking for a heads up if this sounds about right. And it's mostly just for the fairing and such like clips and bolts i'm looking for
maybe over kill but for the money STAINLESS STEEL Button Head Allen Bolts (Socket Caps) 100 Mixed Pack M5, M6, M8 | eBay
I never noticed mate, bought quite a few kits off him months ago and didnt have any problems that's why I posted, but as you pointed out seems they have been having quite a lot of problems these days!
Yea they fooked my order up too Craig. Ended up having 2 sets delivered and then having to think about a refund on another set, which I ended up just keeping as I couldn't be arsed sending back.
Ok maybe not a great idea from that seller just yet. But any help on the sizes I posted ? really just want to double check the sizes before I buy
Careful Remal, could be a bit of a Minefield ! I've recently got the Probolt engine a fairing kit, I was quite amazed at the different sizes and fittings for the fairing. I had a quick look to see if any kits had a parts list but couldn't find any.. Maybe you could surf the interweb a bit more? Or give them a ring they may tell you or email a spec sheet for the kit? You may have to sweet talk them but i'm sure you'll think of something... ! Probolt - 01684 851940
Scrivets - I don't know if they changed on later models, but I bought these and found them too big. Went in OK to get in but a real PITA to get out. I had to cut two of them with snips. Honda Fairing Clips Plastic Screw Rivet Honda Panel Trim Clip Scrivet x10 m6 6mm | eBay The ones that I tried to replace had a texture to the head, if that makes sense? Personally, I will be trying some 5mm next. I think that with a genuine 6.5-7mm you would need to be enlarging the fairing holes.
I just ordered some spares for my blade for the same reason. I went to Ron Ayres to get the part numbers then searched on google which got me the sizes and places selling them. Think I ended up at speedyfasteners. Hopefully they will be waiting for me at home tomorrow.
I measure the old (probably original) scrivet as 5.99mm and the speedy fasteners one as 6.31mm. This will explain the difficulty removing them. The original scrivet also has ramps and bars that push the screw away from the outer when you undo. Looks like the way forward is enlarging the hole, then having a choice of scrivets.
