There are loads of tutorials on you tube and if you put an advanced search on here you will find a few topics on it. I asked my dealer when I bought my 12 to remove them but they refused as they had to split the subframe. I sold my 09 to a mate of mine who has removed them on that one with no problems.

Sata Street hooks are the dogs - used them as luggage points loads and like said easy option to bolt pegs on if needed

Shame they are so hard to buy here - will suggest CalSport become the official importer / re-seller for them!

I think I tried a different socket set on the nearside to the offside, just to check the ratchet action :D

Or I may have started taking pics to demonstrate the complex phases of the operation!

It's fiddly for sure, but if your new to the bike then take your time (3-4hrs) and it'll happen :)
Here's a useful vid to help show how to strip the rear end down to the frame. Don't be afraid of the plastic - it's pretty flexible :)

Once it's stripped, split the subframe at the back and then take each side of to get to the allan bolts that hold the pegs on.
This job is probably the most tedious modding one you'll do, but once it's done then you'll be more comfortable taking some sockets to the bike in the future.
