Yep, Sunday evening and I'm posting an opinions and arseholes thread I know.

At least it's not another flapper mod thread :D

Sat here tethering on the iPhone as the Internet is once again FUBAR!

Now I've had VM in for near ten years, personally I don't think they are investing back into their infrastructure, hence all the problems I'm getting. I've had five engineer visits this past seven days and I'm about getting the serious arse with them!

So I've had a look at Sky.

But you know what, it's a bleeding minefield.

I've had a look and as far as I can see I can get the same package with sky as I'm on with VM for around £20 a month less?

    Unlimited broadband
    Large entertainment package
    Unlimited calls 24hrs.
    £53.60 a month.

Anyway, what's the word on the street? Best package etc do i Stick with who I'm with and have a rant tomorrow and demand new cables etc, or shall I vote with my dough and give Sky a try?
biggest problem for me, I don't like change, very stuck in my ways and I hate things stuck on the side of my house and cables running all over, I Fcukin hate cables all over :(

    Over to you.

I've had most of the providers ending up with BT, all crap, all slow down and fail. Changed over to total Sky package - internet, phone, Sky+HD multiroom and not had any problems with the internet since.

this is going to sound bleeding obvious...but do check your out of contract with Virgin parasites! if you changed your package, price etc they will have tied you in to a new contract without you knowing.
Trust me Im speaking from experience! we 'apparently owe them £220 which they can suck my c*** for!

if you are out of contract Sky is not a bad bet, but your going to hate all the cables over your exterior walls.
Do an internet search for half price deals for sky as there are tons of them, I managed to get 12 months half price from money saving expert when we moved a month ago.
as a side point i got sky TV but Plus net broadband as it was wicked value for money...although do consider Motogp on tv too.

    like you say...a bloody minefield

Has to be sky for me! But that's only because we can't get virgin here.

Even the virgin head office (just round the corner) can't get virgin, they pay a different provider for there Internet too! What a joke

Go for Sky & see if your in a fiber optic area as Sky now piggy back off BT & get a freind to recommend you & I think you'll both get £75 voucher

Ps go for the 2TB box & you can even get a WiFi adaptor for it so the box doesn't need to be right next to an Internet point

Will SKY be offering MotoGP as an extra next year if it's going to BT?

Just an update on this thread.

I like to think when im quick enough to criticize something/someone, im also quick enough to offer my praise.

since dinner time iv'e had customer service coming out of my Fcukin ears, yes there had been a problem in my area with VM but it wasn't directly linked with my problem, any way the upshot is ive had engineers working around these parts all afternoon a couple of home visits thrown in and the job seems to be sorted and running like clock work to which i am grateful.

I won't be naming names, mainly because this forum is certainly for me a release from work, not to get deeper into the shit, and id hate the fact that they could get hassled by hundreds of work related questions!
All ill add is, this was nothing to do with me picking up a phone and ranting and raving, this was just me having a general moan in the right place at the right time, thats the thing with public forums i guess, you never really know who is reading your posts? perhaps a valuable lesson there to be learned?

Ha, and the fact you thought you knew your mates :)

Anyway big respect to ya for your above and beyond the call of duty today.

    thread closed :)

I have been with virgin since they took over telewest. I have kept their broadband as i've hand no issues with it. started with 1/2 meg and now up to 30meg. I get good speeds most of the time. But I changed my tv to Sky when telewest got took over due to loosing channels due to a few issues between sky and virgin years ago

Again I've been very happy with Sky and now have Sky + HD movie package and got F1 HD. again been happy with that

    not that this helps much

I used to have Sky but have been with Virgin Media for quite a long time now. I really can't fault them. The broadband service has been basically fault free for 10 years and I've always got slightly over the speed I pay for. Right now I get approximately 62Mb even though my speed's supposedly 60Mb and it never drops service.

I'm lucky enough to be in a FTTC area, I'm only 20 metres from the cabinet and it's a nice big, thick coax cable from the cabinet into my house.

I'd never change to anything else as it just works.
