Got an 08 Blade and compared to the rear brake on a SP2 I own the Blade rear brake is virtually non exsistant.

Is this a common failing ? Specific to the 08 blade as the brakes have only recently been serviced with little if any improvement.

There is a rear brake on the blade. my 2011 blade has the same amount of power as my Speed triple did. Not much. only really used for holding the bike at the lights and thats it

Must admit after fitting wemoto braided hoses and SBS fast road pads to both front and back brakes my back one feels a lot better now on my RR4

The rear on the 08+ is pointless, I changed lines and pads to Brembo, made chuff all differance, short of a brembo caliper and a few ££'s you cannot do anything to improve the issue.

Saying that I hardly ever used it apart from filtering about town so no big problem :)

Strange, I've got a RR8 (standard Honda pads) and the back brake is very good.

you guys using slabs of cheese for pads, without C-ABS it locks up when the pedal it sniffs my big toe, C-ABS on and stamping on the rears (granted it applies the fronts too) the stopping power is amazing

I think that might be quite close to the truth. It's good for speed control but crap for skids ;)

My rear brake on a 2010 was crap so I cleaned the pads and replaced the brake fluid - to find it still being crap. Will try a grippier pads at some point as relying on the front brake is a bit scary.

Had the same problem on my 600 RR7. Fitted a Galfer wavy disc and EBC sintered pads and HEL hoses, was so good after that.

    Thanks for all the comments.

Only reason I want to improve the rear brake performance is when descending down tight twisty hairpins I could do with having the use of a decent back brake as I m steering with the front so don't want to use the front brakes for obvious reasons.

Already got HEL braided line so might try new pads, anyone recommend any for the rear they have found with noticeable improvement over oem ?

Ya got no choice on an ABS!

Applying the rear also applies the front!

    Not really a problem TBH
