My bike is up for it's 2 year ABS fluid change soon. I'm wondering, has anyone any advice as to a dealer that has a competent service department? I'm looking for one that has gained enough experience to carry out this complicated operation. Apparently it's a £400.00 bill for this so I want the job done properly and, If possible, I'd like to be there when it's being carried out. I'm out in 'the sticks' here so I'm going to have to travel 50-150+miles anyway so distance (from Kington, Herefordshire.) is a secondary consideration. Nick.
Sorry, can't help - but £400 for a brake fluid change? I know it's a pain in the backside job on the ABS, but that's an outrageous sum of money! S
Well I'm just quoting a figure I read on this forum for the (apparently) 5 hours it takes to complete the operation. Glancing through the 22 pages of instructions though, there is mention of the need to remove/refit the radiator and that's not 'a 5 minute job' is it. http://www.expandingknowledge.com/Je...r_Bleeding.pdf
Exhaust Headers have to come off too as the front modulator lives behind there for now. Ya can bet ya pension that'll be moved on the new model. Arthurbike mad (darn' sarff) is ya man if the Traveling is viable for you?
Yikes! indeed Sos. But I'm thinking ahead, to the time I might want to sell, and then that dealers stamp in my book will be a big '+'.
Tell me more SW? I'm still a bit of a newbie round here but I've seen his name on this forum. Is he a Honda dealer or independent? What's his set-up? Where's he located?

Well Jim, I was going to ask you not to be so coy about who you're local dealer is but then I noticed where you're located.
Not sure about labour rates in the sticks, but my main dealer charges £50 an hour, so thats 8 of them at £400, so I think if thats what they have quoted then look elsewhere PM sent
I paid £194+VAT for my fluid change. Bury St Edmunds John Banks Honda. However i am aware that a lot of dealers may need more than one attempt at it.
There is also the worry that because it's such a time cosuming fiddly job to do by the book that some Tech's might miss bits out or take short cuts, which IMHO defeats the object of the exercise and you might as well not bother at all.
