p.s. Honda won't be too fussy about the mileage as long as you don't take the micheal and turn up with 1500-2000 miles on the clock, especially if all other scheduled maintenance has been done, it also depends on the nature of the potential claim.

If your really concerned phone your dealer and ask them to let you know what the permitted mileage is, then ask them to check the small print on their extended warranty leaflets think you might find it useful !

Hi Guys I just booked my 600 mile service in Peterborough and have to wait two weeks-cost £150 but I asked how many miles I was allowed and the guy said it was ok to be over as long as it was not hundreds of miles and as I had already done 600 and we were due a cracking bank hols I knew I would be over by a couple of hundred -now stands at 804 miles...
    cheers ufoxed

I don't know... A company the size of Honda, and all their clever engineers... In sure there is more logic to the running in period than 'just a compromise'.

The service book does not actually state a running in process, or a particular mileage I've noticed.

When I had a Ducati I was there for the first service, and the amount of metal filings magnetised to the sump plug was amazing. They said the first service was to remove all that crap from the system. I don't think the engine would be worn in enough at 100 mile.

Just don't do it yourself. Lad on another forum did and when his engine seized with (IIRC) under 2000 miles on it Honda told him to do one.

Dyno tech ecosse were booked up for a couple of weeks when mine was due. Took it to Hamilton Motorcycle Services instead. They also do a top job and could fit me in the next day.

There is actually are paragraph in the Owners manual for this.

It states to 'run the bike in' for 500 km which is around 300 miles.

It doesn't say what stipulations or recommendations this running in process should include.

Has anyone used either of them for suspension setup? Since I'm a little larger than the people the blade was designed for I think it could really benefit from it. I'd have thought DE would be the natural choice but happy if better recommendations.
