Just In Bellagio having a Barolo.. So an update. Journey down from Cheshire to Calais was horrendous.. Freezing cold and driving rain and 60 mph winds all the way. Was late getting to Calais due to technical difficulties on the train, and waited 3 hrs. next day, travelled to Nurgurg, via some fantastic twisty and fast roads, don't know the name of them, but incredible road. had to stop and wait a few times for one if the lads to catch up.Scenery was brill, and git the bike cranked over quite a bit. Took 7 hrs to get to the digs with stop offs, but really lucky with weather. Started to spit around 9pm. I thought I had booked 2 rooms, but we had a huge house to ourselves.. Very beautiful. Next day, onto Baden Baden via the b48. Started ok, although damp, two of us where going great, the grip on the roads was fab, and even on damp roads it was immensely enjoyable. A few hours in, the weather turned horrendous, and we decided to get to the monastery as quick as poss. We had to divert twice as a river had burst its banks, and we did a 60 mile detour, and headed to the motorway. I have never, ever experienced rain like it.... Fookin awful for 160 miles. we pulled in a petrol station for a warm and we where soaked through to our undues, even though we where fully kitted with waterproofs and with tiredness and lack of concentration, i dropped the bike! side stand was only half down, and over it went. I trued to catch it, but it was over to far and twatted the tarmac...Just scuffed the engine protection, bar end, lever and mirror covers, and scuffed the crash bobbin on the rear...thank got for protection on the bike!! We met Craig at the monastery, with great relief and we where tired out. I had been speaking to Alblade r.e his trip, he seemed to be having a hard day too. Monastery was beautiful and warm. We got ready in some dry clothes and hit the village for a few beers... 7 hrs later after a superb night of beers, food and free shots from the owners of the bar, we went back arseholed! next day onto Lucerne. Sun shining, hot and the b500! Amazing. I filmed it with the gopro, will get the footage up shen i get back!!fab road! Hotel was amazing with best view I have ever seen. Top meal at a beautiful Restraunt, and a bottle of wine. Next day, onto como. Great weather, hot and dry. Came across 20 miles plus of the sweepiest narrow village road, it was ace! Arrived at the hotel and had a beer! Again, fantastic views and we sat on the jetty on the lake, chilling. Today, we awoke to incessant rain. Seeing as it was a chillout day, not bothered, but it cleared up around 12, sun came out so we have caught the bus to bellagio for shopping for the wives. We are having lunch in a lovely little town, with a glass of red and a few espressos.... Fantastic. Tomorrow, we are heading to Strasbourg, again via the b500. So far, 2,845km covered with another 3,000 to go. Loving it!
quality mate!! chin up despite the weather - thats the spirit!! shame it wasnt great for the B48 - hidden gem aint it mate - said you'd like it!
I am sat in livigno in heavy snow! Jimbo, can you pm me details of that road please. This is a trip and a half for us!
Thought you might have hit the rain going down and although mentally prepared its still a slight downer for your holiday start .Looks like you will still have a top time though and we all are looking forward to the photos ,sorry to hear about the bike but I have no doubt that it will be minted once back in old Blighty.
Also PM'd not sure if link will work? but this is how we went from ring to black forest via b500 and b48 Nürburgring to Schenkenzell, Germany - Google Maps top days ride!
I wouldn't get too excited Lambeth, whilst we was in the lakes this weekend, we was beating the oriental tourists off with a stick over our two spaniels, must be the hair? Or dinner
