I know that this years TT is just getting going but it was going to be my first time there, unfortunately I find myself in foreign climates. Now for the good part......next year I am definitely going. So far it's me and a friend and we're bookings soon! Can anyone recommend me the best camping locations and ferry websites for bookings? There's also an opportunity to turn this into a forum meet for a week if everyone who's going books on the same site or in the same area if you're up for it. Let me know and we'll start putting something together, we might even get a group discount if there's enough of us
You'll have to use the Steam Packet for your ferry, book early and it's reasonable. For camping I always go to the Sulby Claddagh's, you just need a pass and it's free (the pass is also free). Hope this helps.
If your on foot then fly for peanuts,if on bike then there is only steampacket the deposit is £40 for next year think it was £230 bike and rider this year so will go up next year. There is a camp site on the rubgy field bottom of bray hill, pub on corner mcdonalds just down road walking distance to Douglas .il be there next year with about 5 others carnt wait i love it.
Hey mateys, I've just booked the ferry aswell, probably going over on my own, but I am travelling over from Liverpool on 31st May early morning and coming back on 8th June. Staying in a mates back garden lol, 5 mins away from Bray Hill.
If you are hoping to get your bikes on the ferry you need to book NOW!!! bike spaces fill up quick! I'm booked again for next year, got the crossings I like taking a TT virgin across with me (both of us on our bikes).
dont stay in the campsite at douglas rugby club, it maybe close to the town and pubs but is just a field and has no facilities. i tried it in 2012 not to be recommended.
I've been every year for the last 23 years - top week! Plenty of info on IOMTT.COM - e.g. Camping http://www.iomtt.com/TT-2014/~/media/Files/2013/Downloads/2013campsites.ashx As above, try and get ferry booked ASAP. I booked my 2014 sailings the day they went on sale, and even then didn't get what I wanted. Cheers, Ian.
Steam Packet website. Isle of Man Steam Packet Company It cost me about £230 return this year - bike and rider. Not cheap! At least the racing is free
I'm booked on ferry on 30th May from Liverpool and return on 9th June to Heysham. Camping at St Georges next to grandstand.
I booked my ferry tickets for my brother and I plus our bikes within 24 hours of arriving home after this years races and like Ian E we didn't get the dates we wanted so you need to be booking it now tbh. We'll be there from 28/5 til 2/6 so we'll see both practise and the racing but we stay with my mate and his family who live in Douglas so I can't advise you on places to stay I'm afraid. What I can recommend is - take your bike. In the past we've gone as foot passengers but this year we took the bikes for the first time and it is so much more enjoyable it really is. Either way you'll love it
Just got an email with balance to be paid by 28th feb 14. Total cost of £236 for the ferry crossings with steam packet, less the £40 deposit and a bit of discount leaves £191 to pay. I'll be all paid up as camp site already paid for, staying at st Georges fc next to the grandstand. Can't wait till may now to see the heroes blast down bray hill.
If you have a spare booking for race week (Saturday to the following Saturday/Sunday) a mate may be interested in buying it off you. Cheers, Ian.
