Well my family chipped in togeather and got some cash togeather for my first track day, can anyone give me advise on the best track for a beginner and a half decent cheap track bike hire company?

Also how hard is a track day on your joints etc? I struggle to ride any more than about 90 mins max without having to stop and stretch etc. Will I be ok on track? How longs each session and how longs the stretch between them?

    Cheers guys

Hi buddy I think no limits are the all round decent outfit .I think there bikes are £250 and £500 deposit which can be held on a credit card . My mate had a off on a hire bike scratched scraped broken clip on and they were sweet about it No charge and was our next session .sessions are 20 mins in 3 sessions so always a 40 min break usually 6 sessions . 20 mins for me in inters/fast depending on tracks gets me sweating !!! I can't really say about other people but it's a bloody good workout . You will love it you don't need to do all sessions . Donington good track also mallory easily remembered dont do pembrey first or silverstone I think these are the most to get used to oh ! Rockingham is also good if its dry bud

Why don't you try a Race School Course first, like the Ron Haslam or jamie Whittam's Super Bike School

You get the Bike, gear and instruction included, IMHO a far better prospect for easing your self in to Track Day's

Honda Ron Haslam Race School - Premier Course

I have only done Race School in a Car but the principal is the same.

It's a far better way to get in to it as you have one to one tuition plus a couple of videos etc and lunch.
It's far better to have instruction rather than just chucking yourself on to a track and not knowing if what you're doing is right or wrong.

Everything's included mate so no extra costs even if you did bin it, which is unlikely, as the instructor will be following you or going in front to correct you if you start getting carried away.

I shall be doing both the 600 and the Blade days late summer or next year depending on work commitments as even though I've done track stuff in Cars I aint done anything on Bikes.

Prices are cheap as well IMHO

I'm a big fan of no limits, found them to be the best TD organizer I have used

My first trackday waas at pembrey, Loved it, Done Donny and Anglesey weekend as well. Pembrey is small and away from the main part of the UK so not as busy. nice small track and lots off learn. glad it was my first Circuit and would recommend it to anyone

I did the Ron Haslam race school at Donnington on the 600rr's. it was fantastic but we only got three sessions on track which went by in no time. The tuition is very good though and they supply all the gear and bikes. Warning though, if you do fall off (which one did during the first session) then that's your day over. Queue one very p*ssed off spectator at the side of the hairpin :)

So if I fall off in the last one I'm ok lol

F1reblade could you just talk me through the day a bit? How longs the day? How longs each session? Is your speed restricted etc?
Anything else you can think I might need to know

Bit closer to home is Bedford Autodrome. Not been there before but it's supposed to be a good track especially for novices as its got good run-offs and a straight where you can max out the Blade.
I'm there with Wedgiewolves, Stevo and several others from other forums. This is also on 11th June (next Tuesday) with No limits , this is only 89 quids.

I'm on my road bikes in the novices so you wont find to much heroics from me, though I'm praying to the God of Kudos to actually allow me you get my knee down!:)

Yes it's a relatively full day with a debrief beforehand and also after each session with your instructor telling you what you need to work on. The sessions themselves are only about twenty minutes each but you can do a decent number of laps in that time as long as you're not ridiculously slow.

There are no speed restrictions and in fact on the straight I got up to a decent lick although without a speedo its hard to tell how fast. The instructor reckons we were doing about 140 on the 600's on the straight before jamming the brakes on.

At the end of the day there is a presentation session where everyone gets a certificate and a brief report from their instructor on their riding.

I was lucky as I got one to one tuition due to the guy I partnered with being a bit slow and holding me back. Most instructors are ex British racers, some at quite a high level.

The only other advice I would give is to take your camera and someone to take lots of shots, although there is the official photographer there as well. I got both knees down for the first time and so took the obligatory ground sliders shot.

Enjoy!! You'll love it. Some pics of me from the official photographer attached. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1370274937.062847.jpg

They weren't cheap Martin. I think the best part of £30 and I swore I wouldn't buy them but then I saw them and...............I'm weak.....lol.

Best advice for knee down is body position, which they'll teach you on a bike on paddock stands. As long as its not p*ssing it down gradually increase your lean angle on the hairpins and it'll happen naturally. You don't need to climb right off the bike to do it. I ground the hero blob to start with and it scared the bejesus out of me, next time round i put the flat of my foot against the side of the bike instead of the footpeg and bingo. I was happier than a happy thing who just won a happy contest ;)
