The post about leg-out style has (besides making me laugh) made me question what skill I would like to master on the bike.

There's a few actually, a decent wheelie being the obvious pose one, but the one I really believe would make me a better rider on the road (and on track days) is to properly counter-steer and get the bike turned far quicker into the corner. I do use it, but I know there's way more to go yet.

I know the theory, I just need to get out there and practise.

Do others use it? Made any big differences?

Ive been looking at this also. I think we all counter steer to an affect but it is using it to make the bike steer really quick. The other technique im looking at is hook steering, anyone got any pointers?

Edit : I meant hook turn, what a noob!

Yeah, when we lean the bike we naturally push on the inside bar a bit which starts the turn. I want to learn how much positive push you can do to make the bike turn really quick.
Hook steering is a new one on me though. I'll have a look into that one.

You have to counter steer to corner, the calafornia schools no BS bike
Proves that but to use a counter steer more effectively you just
Need to find a quick left right filck corner then practice on
Pulling the bars to change direction then gradually do it faster
And faster each time pulling on the bars more so you can
Flick the bike through the bends.its actually very to do.

Do you pull on the outside one then Phantom? I've been pushing on the inside one. Same result I suppose. Depends which is easiest to fine tune I guess. Good idea about the left / right flick though. Definitely needs a good sequence of bends to practise on.

Is that for counter steering, or a general life lesson? LOL

Nah, just for Bike Steering! ;)

I find 'Pushing' from the rear far more satisfying than 'Yanking' alone! :D

you do both as pushing or pulling on one side isnt enough to drop or lift the bike fast.
when you are lifting the bike up for the next corner(turning into the corner) you will
get the feel of how much force it takes to lift the bike faster.when you get really used
to it you can do a left right flick that fast that the front end lifts into the air mid
between the two, not a better feeling one a bike...better feeling that knee down IMHO.
