Out with the forum guys Sunday I noticed oil splashes on my exhaust can lower fairing etc, I removed my lower fairing and what I have is damp oil around the oil pressure switch, I think, I say I think because its Leaking such a small amount and its smeared over a large area and the exact leak hasn't manifest itself, the bike 9 months old so it should be a warranty, I have replaced the fairing without cleaning the oil to enable Honda to see where it might be conning from? Lets hope when I call them tomorrow it's a warranty job, I'll not be happy if its not!
Honda are busy and can't look at it till next week, they can't say if its warranty or not it depends where the oil is leaking? So when is an oil leak a warranty issue, I guess I'll find out next week?
Glad they got you in sooner than they can get me in for a service It almost has to be a warranty job though, the bike is nearly new still. Nothing can be classed as wear and tear at that stage of a bikes life.
Honda are not sure where the leak is coming from suspecting it may be the casing seal from when it fell over on the drive? That was at 4 miles it has now done 2400 miles? It's took 2396 miles to manifest the leak, or do Honda want to find any reason to extricate themselves from a warranty repair? I've given permission to remove the casing in the hope that the source of the leak can be identified, watch this space? Any chance of a donation towards the bill
. Hi buddy seems a bit of a daft one but yup it happened to me the oil filler seal on screw in cap was letting fluid past as tightened to hard i took seal off dried flipped it and hey presto worth a look buddy ?. or go for a good blast and lightly blow some saw dust or silmilar should stick to your wet parts
Disappointing I picked my blade up Wednesday all fixed. Today i thought I would take it for a ride and guess what? The leak appears worse than before so I took the bike straight up to Honda and the engineer said the leak looks different to the original? You've got to laugh
Well that's nice good :-( hope they sort it for you quickly... That's nearly 2 sunny weekends ruined by it now... Free service? ;-)
i thin k you need to though a eppy fit at em carl.... it not right that.... tell em sort that bike out
I know the guys too well to tell them what I think, I'll give the benefit of the doubt and see what happens this time. I'm sure they will be fare? I shouldn't have this grief with a new bike but what can you do.
Sorry to hear about your problems Carl, if you not happy with the diagnosis wazz it over to Marshals in Peterborough for a second opinion. They have been very straight and fair with me so far. The DP is David, Sales Guy is Adi, Head tech is Dave. If you need a hand let me know and I will give them a call on your behalf.
violence is the answer... ok maybe not... but it is for open a jar of jam. i'd be well angry i hate poor service
My bike is ready and I can pick it up tonight. So are they going to charge me, place your bets gentlemen? When I first took it in I suggested that the leak was coming from the oil pressure switch, in fact a couple of forum guys on the recent Scarborough run thought the same. However, Honda said the clutch housing seal had been compromised when the bike fell on the drive, just rested down mind, and that was 2500 miles ago? Anyway I had to pay for the repairs. 60 miles and the oil is still leaking, they now say its the oil pressure switch even though the rubber cover is not marked and the switch is undamaged it would also be as a result of the fall, indeed the suggestion is that they have both been leaking. The switch is fine it’s just come lose. They don’t want to credit me for the clutch cover seal that we all know was fine. They also don’t want the oil pressure switch to be a warranty job even though we all know it should be? So when I collect will I be paying for both repairs, receive a credit for the clutch cover that didn’t need doing, or get this done free and just accept the clutch cover payment in lue of the oil switch work done? Come back later and find out?
Well I'm home? No charge. No refund Not a warranty repair I'm reasonably happy in the end, I would prefer that the clutch housing wasn't removed needlessly but they needed to check it during their investigation. In retrospect the service was good and it didn't cost me much overall.
I asked if they could service it for me straight away, they told me to bring it in tomorrow for a full service? Only joking Graeme, when you booked in?
Haha you nearly got me there!! Booked in for Friday. Booked the day off so hopefully the weather stays half decent.
