Hey guys, I phoned Honda today to price brake pads for me bike, so I was quote of £23 per set! Now donno if average! But according to the service manual the caliper mounting bolt have to be replaced if the caliper is removed when doing the brake pads and I was then quoted a feckin ridiculous £17 each That's £68 in total for the set! Now probolt do a stainless steel set for £23 and a coloured titanium set for £60 Just what the fcuk is Mr Honda playin at? I spoke to my local bike shop and they said and I quote "they don't need replaced and that is a lot of shite! Honda should be fcukin exposed for being the robbing bastards that they are Now due to the response of my friendly neighbourhood mechanics! I would like to hear your options on said feckin bolts! Replace or not replace? That is the question!
Hi Trev its recently been discussed on here somewhere and the general feeling is the old bolts are fine .i have had mine in and out about 6 times already .that would be £23.00 per set = £46.00 to change the front pads total .this is about average for fast road sintered .Try Tweeks you may get a set post free which are better .
Cheers guys I just couldn't believe the price of the oem bolts!!!.. It is pretty shocking but it's good to know that Probolt do a Stainless set of 4 for £23 or £60 for tasty titanium gold ones opposed to £68 for the same from Honda
There's a set of 4 new bolts on Ebay for £19.00 if you really need some - I think the seller was SMJET or something like that.
I asked the same question recently mate, decided to just keep on using the ones I have. Although based on some of the responses, I'd steer clear of the titanium bolts... http://1000rr.co.uk/mods-upgrades-accessories-products/10717.htm
