I have had a Ducati for the last year doing some 11000 miles on it in all weathers, and the Brembo brakes are fantastic, probably the best anchors I have had on a bike. I now have a 13 plate blade and find the front brakes rather shocking, a couple of times now I feel that I cannot stop in time, i do but feel that the front brakes do not have an instant bite to them, sure they are not as ferocious as the brembo but is a pad change the way?
I have just gone from a Ducati 1098S to a Honda CB1000R (same brakes as the 08 + ) and I found them to be slightly less agressive/grabby at lower speeds but by no means weak or rubbish ? Sorry if I should know but did you go for ABS or normal ? Have you tried a quick bleed ? (if not ABS lol) also I tried Brembo pads over OE honda in the blade and I found no real difference, the OE pads are very good IMO.
I have a non ABS version so will give it a bleed tonight, also I might have my old Brembo pads that were fitted in my 2009 blade that I removed before selling so will give those a try.
Cool mate, also overnight tywrap the lever on it can help get rid of any small air bubbles that might be lurking in there. The Brembos did have a better initial bite over the OE pads but it was marginal, but worth a go Maybe its a full brembo overhaul with 19 RCS M/C, braided lines and Brembo calipers sure Arthur could point you in the right direction .. If money is no object lol
How much do you reckon a full set of brembos etc would cost lol ?? Ive got them on my Speedie, which is getting chopped ijn for this..................
Never had a problem with my brakes 12 plate all I have is brembo Rcs hel lines and brembo fluid these were on from new so can't say about standard brakes . Time to treat her I think buddy
Hel lines about £60, Brembo 19 RCS master cylinder with reservoir from caprimoto about £300 calipers £800 upwards ! I had 2010 with Hel lines, 19 RCS and brembo road (red) pads and the brakes were plenty good enough... this is all for non ABS Oh and very nice indeed !!! loving the stealth of the black blade !
Right so excuse my ignorance and lack of knowledge. When I get this girl in a few weeks time, and lets just say I wanted to do something with the brakes but couldnt afford to get "ALL" the Brembo bits or calipers etc, what would be or what COULD I consider doing ?? Also; with the "Master Cyliner" if i wanted to get these for the bike do i get a clutch one and a brake one what the f*** are they and do they exist on the bike at the moment ?? Stupid questions maybe I know, but I know very little about this kind if thing.
Clutch is cable operated so no master cylinder to worry about, brake has a master cylinder which is basically the piston that moves the brake fluid when you pull on the brake lever supplied by brake fluid in the reservoir. When you get it I doubt you will NEED to do anything, the bike is very good as it is, most people will fit HEL brake lines 'Arthurbikemad' can sort you with these if you like the rest is bling unless your tracking the bike TBH And ask away we all have asked a stupid question to find out everyone wanted to ask the same thing but didnt have the guts
So I could get that brembo master cylinder brake lever and it would fit my bike ?? !! Then I would just need to buy the matching Clutch lever Then could buy the calipers at a later date if I wanted to bling it up ??
Exactly and brembo do a rather sexy RCS clutch perch and lever to go with the very sexy 19 RCS M/C, just incase your interested lol Now please stop me looking at the old pics of my blade as it upsets me
I now commute to and from work 120 miles a day so couldnt do it on the blade...plus I have back problems so I have bought the next best thing in my eyes a CB1000R, but I will have a weekend special blade soon the current bike
Hope thats not the one in Two Wheels in Edinburgh. Missus going through today to check out the plusses and minus' for a trade in on it.
nah its not mate, much further south than that although my good lady comes from that neck of the woods
