I have a 2012 Fireblade and want to fit an alarm. Does this model have an alarm plug as I have read that some models do. Does anyone know what options there are apart from the Honda Averto. I really want plug and play. Alarm must be Thatcham approved although I am not particularly bothered about having it fitted professionally.
I'd have to agree with Marty mate.... Amount of riders I pass broken down due to alarm failure is not good at all. I have a disc lock system fitted that sits on the front caliper permanently so you don't have to worry about carrying it around. Police said it's locks and chains that are most effective against theft. My RR7 went happily into the back of a transit with an alarm fitted

In order to get insurance I had to get an Averto alarm on my first blade. Never had a problem with it really. And think it does just plug into a loom attachment (not 100% sure tho). For my new one, apparently Honda now sell all new bikes with Datatag, so not getting this one alarmed.
Zipster they are mate, Ive got the Immobiliser VI and the heavy duty squire lock, you cant carry them with you its like a fecking chain they used to tie up King Kong with lmao. I havent felt the 3, but apparently a lot of guys do carry it with them, but there is now way that I would take away on a distance trip. Im in the process of getting a tailor built shed/outbuilding with all kinds of man traps in it lol. Metal plates in the walls and all sorts. With that, an alarm, that chain, ground anchor and a fecking big dog, Im hoping that I would be ok ??
Hi is Series 111 not that heavy? Is it meant to be portable? Looks pretty good. I'am waiting for my new blade & decided not to go down the alarm route. But was thinking about a tracker; but like the look of these. What one have you got?
Yes my new blade came with datatag on it and I see the point of a lock but those locks are too big to go in the underseat area and I won't carry one in a back pack due to wieght and if I did come off you'd get beaten up by the lock in your back pack. The real reason for wanting an alarm is that while at a bike shop open day I parked in what was the only available area as it was very busy. On returning to where I had parked my bike it had been moved by one of the shop workers so they could park one of their bikes where I had parked, bearing in mind I had put the steering lock on they still moved it. Needless to say I had a go at the bloke but if I had an alarm on it then it would have gone off and I could have caught them doing it or it may have deterred them from moving it in the first place.
I still wouldn't fit an alarm to my bike, had one on my Street Triple for 3 years and though it gives you some peace of mind there are too many disadvantages: battery drainage, won't stop the real thieves, massive price tag (£300-ish) / little resale value, potential malfunction. I'd go with a small chain around a lamp post, an alarmed disk lock and a bike cover.
If you get a tracker make sure you don't get the one called 'Trackerâ„¢' as they are pants and to be avoided. Have a look at biketrac or equivalent.
Someone on here recently mentioned the Meta Def.com T. It's play and play via a harness/loom adaptor and with the HISS will take you to Thatchem 1. You can have it just as an alarm, and because it's plug 'n pray it would be easy to remove if you had problems with it. Next insurance renewal time I will be checking to see if it saves enough on the premium to pay for itself.

The Series 3 just pops in a US10 Kreiga or in the Givi Tank bag when I'm off on Tour as that's about the only time I need one as any other time I'm just out for a blast with the boy's so the most we do is stop for a Brew somewhere and sit outside with the Bikes in full view. Series III has a 16mm diameter link, the Series IV has a 19mm diameter link
