They started recently.. I go to and back from work maybe 3 days a week and never had this issue before.. they other day me and my brother rode to from east london to west london - and it was the worst ride of my life.. i can feel it on my right hand more then my left and in the foot pegs.. How can i look into fixing this..or will it be like finding a needle in a haystack! i get vibrations in idle when i rev the bike past 5000rpm..so maybe something loooe..? Anyone?
I had this with my 2006 blade aftermarket clip ons make it worse . Make sure your using original bar ends . I made it better with some metal shot put in a bag and put into clip ons this takes the vibes out . Also relaxing my grip helped . Also make sure your gloves not too tight this what was recommended to me I have no Problem with my 12
I get pins and needles as well, but only in my hands. I have an 06 with standard bars. Tight gloves can cause it as has been said but mine are not tight. My theory for my own problem (apart from old age) is the angle of the bars. I think my wrists are taking weight and possibly restricting the blood flow to my hands. The recent thread on clip on bars may be helpful. I am going to try some once I have the funds.
Had the worst pins and needles in my hands coming back from the TT. Made my hands go into a spasm, which makes you tense, which makes it worse. Have noticed it more and more recently. Goes all the way to my elbows as well sometimes.
Hate to say this but it's well documented that the 04-07 Blades vibrate more than all the rest of the models, more so at 5-5500 rpm which also happens to be most peoples rev range/road speed for motorways. Some vibrate less than others but they ALL do it at 5000 rpm. Mine is pretty bad!!!............it's coming out at the end of the season and I,m going to renew the balance shaft bearings and gear (it's got a built-in cush rubber in the gear) ,just hope it lessens the vibration.
Try not to lean on your elbows like when laying down or at a bar even when sat at a desk, there is a nerve that can be inflamed that runs down to your hands and in particular your last 2 fingers it doesn't take much to set it off but can take ages to get better. I suffer from this in both elbows and now being conscious of it, it as taken a year to get better. I think it has something to do with the weight on the arms when riding in that it takes hardly any additional pressure on the elbow to set it off, like sat at your desk or leaning on a railing watching the Ramsey sprint in my case. ETA - Or it could just be me getting old.
Sounds more like carpal tunnel and trapped nerves to me. A lot of people mistake this for circulation issues. Tip... Before you ride stand still in an open space and windmill your arms like pete townsend!! And dont listen to your gp most of these issues are in the shoulder NOT the wrist!!
you know with sport bike bars, people often say theyre getting bad wrists etc.... usually when going slow, and they end up trying risers and adjustables an ting. its bollox. honest - invest in a decent pair of rear sets instead and get the riding position set nice for your build and height. not so much on my blade cos it fits me like a glove (or sock) but on my storm i used to get this and found it was cos the pegs were in the wrong position for me. i tried changing the bars and it did fk all apart from give me an excuse for binning it off a cliff :/ when i built it back up i put the oem bars back on with harris rearsets and the difference in comfort was incredible. it changed the lean angle over the tank and took weight off my wrists, and also let me grip the tank proper just a thought. it helped me anyway
Well I used to get pins and needles too.Not anymore. I turned the levers down so my hand does not arc.Amhed on here told me this trick when I bought the shorty levers from him.Stomp grips helped too by gripping the tank when braking. This takes the strain off the wrist and arms.
All I know is that if you've got physical problems in your shoulders that you need to clear those problems. Rearsets And heli bars some will have shorter arms than legs so bringing the bars forward and up will help more than rearsets
A stiff throttle return spring (which the Blade has) will cause cramp in the right hand which will then lead on to 'Pins & Needles'! I found this 'Cruise Control' helped a lot when on Tour, a bargain at £7 from DT! Clips on & off in 5 secs flat!
