What a top thread and what a top bloke Arthur is and what a top forum for support, having just bought my 2012 blade last year, tales of oil burning and self destruction could have me worried but I love my Blade and the chaps who ride the seem top blokes. Have I said top enough yet - Pleased for you Martin, nice to have a happy ending.
Sorry guys been really ill the last 4 days not even been on the forum for the last 3 days, that's when the mrs knew I was I'll as i think I have been on every day since joining (how sad) lol Phil I unfortunately I missed the nice days we had so still not had a proper run, I think the plan will prob be to hand the jardine to Arthur at some point so he can try something with the old flapper valve and the link pipe. So see how that goes
Not worried about the exhaust mate, more wondering if you'd been out at all as not heard anything..... Hope you feel better soon
Checked mine the other day the Honda Techs had overfilled it by 300ml at the dealers... you just cant get the staff now days
Bloodyhell Martin i'd completely missed this at the time of it happening!!!! What a nightmare that turned out well in the end, I've met Arthur a couple of times (At Loomies) he's a top bloke btw I check my oil every time I wheel her out of the garage, it's a good habit to be in and only takes a second to hold the bike upright and look in the sightglass. Now we just need some nice weather.
I check mine all the time too, turned out to be just a gearbox issue in the end but I was kicking myself thinking I had run dry! Are you heading to loomies tonight mate?
Doubtful tbh I'm not sure what time I'll be free most week nights. I'm away this weekend but will probably be up for a Loomies meet on the next dry Sunday morning, it'd be good to catch-up with you buddy.
I get 2 Sundays off in 8 chances of getting a sunny one I don't want to think of the odds lol, have to try arrange another meet like before
It's a real shame that the 08+ onwards doesn't have a sight glass. I'm always nervous about dropping the bike when holding upright and doing the dipstick check at the same time. S
Don't you have a paddock stand? Best to leave it upright for a min before checking anyway, only takes 10 seconds to lift it onto the stand..
I've got an Abba stand and that's what I've used in the past. Although of course if you use a stand, then the bike isn't going to be completely flat either as it's going to be slightly raised at the rear.
Checked my oil level last night, having covered about 150 miles since buying the bike. Took the dipstick out and was surprised to see oil over halfway up, even with the bike on the sidestand. "Strange" thought I, to have that much oil in there? Got the bike vertical with the help of Mrs Sossige rather than Mr Abba and checked the oil again - not impressed as the garage has overfilled it (not my bike, nor me - pic courtesy of Google). My oil level is shown by the yellow line: Hopefully that's not overfilled enough to start putting pressure on seals and turn my engine into a gusher!
On a related note, does anyone know what the difference is in ml between the min and max oil levels? Ta, S
