Looked out the window this afternoon, saw a Mitchell bomber fly over. popped over to our local air field to double check. The place is swarming already for this weekends air show, Vulcan bomber, Spitfire, Hurricane, Typhoon, Fokker, Sopwith etc. the air will be blue and ears will bleed.

And the Sopwith and the Fokker will chuck so much castor oil into the air, people will have the shits for miles around.

    Hooray!

Just had a chat with Phantom on a similar topic, We had the euro fighter buzzing around the fylde coast this afternoon, he'd been about for a while then I'm guessing about a couple of miles out to sea around central he just fcuked off vertical like. Awsome. Then around a couple more times and in.
Also whilst out earlier I'm positive I saw either a spitfire/hurricane coming into BPL. But tbh the geography ain't adding up. Either way. What a great way to have bleeding ears :)

This is the East Kent Air Show at Manstone on the Isle of Thanet, it's an ex Battle of Britain air field, the Red Arrows regularly pop in when doing any air shows in London or the south east.

That's some sight isn't it. When they perform down here they stay at Exeter airport so we can have a week or so of them buzzing around the city. They're very fond of grab arsing out of town at barely legal height in three vics of three, spread out over a minute or so almost between the buildings.

Back in the dim and distant past when I was at school a mate of mine lived on the top floor of a local tower block and the Arrows used to winter at Manstone occassionally and practice their displays. We would stand out on his balcony looking straight up as they would use the tower block as a target for their ground burst manoeuvre.

Live just down the road from Scampton so regularly see the Red arrows practising, they like to get quite close to the roads around here.

I know iv'e said it before but Happy days, In my younger days we used to live on Hawthorn Hill, Dogdyke, our fields used to almost go right up the side of the runway at Coningsby,
The times for air shows were spectacular, that said nearly every day was an air display, with the Phantom jets the BAC lightnings Vulcan bombers Jaguars it still brings fond memories, then we also had the Lancater the spitfire hurricane combination too, as said

    Happy Days :)

Well just had a good day at the air show, BIL got me a free pass cos he's part of a military vehicle display, didn't see any ww1 air craft but the Vulcan was majestic. Spitfire, Hurricane, Mitchell, Mustang, Hunter, a couple of Migs and a Yak put on good displays whilst helicopters buzzed about and the air port carried on with it's normal commercial business and the sun finally broke through. the B17 arrived after I left but I managed to watch it fly over our estate.
