Well made a start today as doing the 16,000 mile service myself. Got the bike stripped and radiator removed for painting etc. Managed to get the air filter assembly all off and spark plugs out too. The plugs and air filters are in a disgraceful mess (Guessing they are the originals) so they will be replaced tomorrow along with oil and filter. Did the valve clearance checks too and all ok which I was WELL chuffed with and it gave me a confidence booster being able to do it myself. Fitting all new silicone hoses too. Got to go to Honda Aberdeen tomorrow to collect my parts and the guy said they are doing `special deals` on new fireblades at the moment !! HHMMMMMM. Might have to walk past the sales area quickly ! haha Heres a few pics Fairings off , coolant drained and radiator off Rad in a sorry state That's better The new hoses Taking shape nicely Forgot to tak pics of the plugs etc and doing the valve clearances as I was to focused lol. That's as far as I can go till I get the parts tomorrow. Might even be home with a new blade HAHA
To be honest mate its really enjoyable and quite easy as long as you follow the Haynes manual and I also looked for info on here too. Plenty people on here to keep you right aswell Felt like a mechanic in the TT legends garage today !! haha
I'll need to meet up with you at some point ddc, so that you can show me a few roads up this way as I've just moved up.
Well got all my parts this morning but as I walked into the dealership there was a brand new repsol blade just sitting there !!. I began to sweat and drool over it so the salesman came over and got chatting as you do. He asked if I wanted a deal on it but I managed to resist ! . Besides theres nothing wrong with my current one and I`m happy with her plus the fact the amount of money I`ve spent lately. Anyway enough waffling heres the rest of the pics from today. Old filters and plugs.Horrendous state And all the new goodies Nearly there All done and cleaned and ready for action again. Lo and behold though forecast for tomorrow is heavy rain! She started first time and had no leaks. Was chuffed to say the least and shes now idling so much better. THrottle seems a lot more responsive too
Lol yeah, they were a bitch to fit especially the ones behind the engine under the tank for the thermostat. Worth it though
