It's just doing my head in Help me organize my bits in my garage. I currently have load of screws, bolts, no plate screws, jubilee clips, nuts, washers of all kind, wire, solder, heat shrink, various hooks, fuses (big and small), wiring parts for joints etc... just loads of stuff I have used and still do but it's doing my head in. I use a few cases, plastic in different sections clear front you know the kind. but it's a pain finding places to keep these cases and haing to keep more than 3 cases is a pain. What do people use to organize their garages when it comes to nuts and bolts etc.... I want to keep them accessible but in order and in their place if anyone else is the same as me when uit comes to tools and stuff Any tips, links to what you may recommend? Anyone?
What I tend to do is have a good clear out and put all the bits that are expensive but are 'loose' so to speak in a large Lin Bin. Everything else is binned. I then have loads of A4 sized multi-compartment containers bought from Screwfix etc which house individual components in diff sizes like this. The Vans have a similar setup and the components are stored in a Mechanics Roller cabinet with the wheels removed and bolted to the Vans floor.
Just about to start my mancave build in next few weeks, I plan to use some of the drawers in a multi drawer tool chest for all the items you mentioned, easily accessible, easy to find that bit you want etc, no more various boxes of bits I have got but can't putmy finger on !!!!!!
I have coffee jars etc for my nick nacks.I've seen a proper tidy garage with the coffee jar lids screwed to the underneath of cupboards.Just unscrew the jar and screw back up.I also use cases with compartments in for fuses all of em for the shop.Wickes do em.
Don't get me too excited as I'm getting old but it looks like we may be going ahead with a double garage build and I feel faint every time I think of 'tooling' it out afterwards. But Sinewave, perhaps you can answer a question I've been pondering for a while whenever I see a van as the above... What happens to all the stuff when you're drifting around roundabouts?
ive used everything from jars to drawers. and the best and most cost effective thing is craft boxes, little plastic boxes with clip lids and approx 20 sections inside. some people use them for embroidery threads too. they turn up all the time at boot sales with kids sequins and beads in. I love them and they stack well...one for well nuts, one for washers, nuts, bolts you get the idea
Not a lot mate! You can't see most of it in that pic, but all the crates etc are held loosely in place by strips of wood or angled L stretcher plates screwed to the Van floor. Ok s seams I use what many others use. Was just hoping to organise a sea in the garage I can put all my bits and bobs. Was thinking a multi draw thing. Name each draw up hay presto I think I will be looking at the screw fix website as a new one just opened 3 mins down the road

We fit these inside our Vans Remal but take the wheels off and screw em to the floor. Just as good in a home Garage. Don't scrimp and buy the cheaper Red 'DIY' units, the Blue Pro range is far superior and not that much more. Clarke CBI170B 7 Drawer Tool Cabinet - Machine Mart
Cheers bud but having issues getting to machine marts website. I popped into B&Q and Screwfix but nothing like I want. Ebay has a few large roller type organizer boxes. just hoping to keep everything in one place
