Go for £40 MH racing near Chippenham has changed the bike. Why get it set up right! Now this is all my opinion and experience I found the bike would understeer into fast corners, mainly on track and I wiould feel like i'm going to run off the road/track. After riding the bike it goes where I point it. Huge improvement OMFG - Braking. under light braking my ABS equipped repsol blade would dive under light braking, heavy braking. Since being set up it does not dive. the suspension takes the braking and not bottoming out and using the tire to take the force and result in possible underside. or feeling just wrong under heavy braking Now the harder I brake the further the front goes down but in a controlled manner that does not dive And just for £40 i'm amazed still. Like having a new bike. And I will be spending my money on suspension now Anyone got ohlins Front or rear springs for sale
yup suspension and unsprung weight mods are the best mods. setting up my shocks is something I first wanted to learn about when I got into bikes.lucky enough when Mr McCallen sets up a bike he brings you in and shows you what he is doing and explains it all so in his words you can DIY next time.
MH did rebuild a couple of months ago on my lads YZF's Ohlins shock, transformed the rear end....would use him again....Mike
Good to hear he's done more than a few from this forum. Hoping to get back in the summer to get the front end serviced and uprated a bit
Mine was set up by Tagg racing, these boys set up race bikes in their spare time as well as run a retail outlet and workshop. Mine was done so I can feel the difference between a set up bike and one that is set up standard in the middle if you like. The difference is immense. If you have'nt had it done to your bike you will never know what a difference it makes. All these power commanders, quick shifters more power is a waste of money through the twisties if your bike does'nt handle like it should.Everyone are different sizes weights and riding styles. It makes sense to get on your bike set up for you.
Yay!!! Someone else has seen the light After getting mine done I became a convert. I realised that I wasn't going to spend money searching for more power. Suspension's where it's at, baby The place where I get mine done does a fork re-valve and replacement springs for the front sus for less than £300. That's my next job. After that it'll be a WP rear shock.
All this talk of suspension has got me thinking! Maybe my rr05 could do with a refresh. I've never even touched the standard settings since getting the bike new and with the miles now at 32k its prob getting a little tired. Carrying around my 14+ stone incl. leathers, won't help much either eh? Does anyone know of any good suspension guys in sunny Scotland?
So your preloads are stock too? I remember when I first got my RR5 they Said the first thing to do was set the rear Sag as it was out by a country mile
Probably be this one mate. I'm keen to get mine done too but it's 3 hours away for me. Guess it would be worth it though Home - ersrace
Do any of you change settings between track and road? My 2012 is still set 'out of the box'. I have done a track day but did not want to mess with settings until I found someone who knew what they were doing!
I know people who do but I had mine set up for me and my style of riding. I prefer a firmer ride and just getting it set up right will make a HUGE difference as I said. So you will benefit on road and track
thanks for the info Remal, I might take a ride down the A4 to them! unless anyone knows of a someone closer to Bracknell that does suspension set up work?
Hi Guys, I have a 2012 Blade with ABS and find under hard braking the bike seems to be twitchy at the rear end. Does that mean my front suspension is too soft? Not looking to do a track day, just get the bike set up better me thinks. Any ideas of best settings to improve everyday riding? I live in Stafford so if anyone knows someone in my area that can help set it up that would be great! Or should I give the front suspension a couple of turns and play around from there?
If you know what your doing, and you know what each turn equates too I'd say go for it. Imo it's difficult trying to get a good balance for roads, we have so many different surfaces etc I'd say you have to go for a happy medium, I find my bikes good on some stretches, and not so good on others. If in doubt I'd leave it for the pro's mate, perhaps a run over to your local race track and let them whirl the screwdriver, about £50 for a set up? Getting the rebound and sag set up just for your weight could potentially make a huge difference?
