As title says. Watched moto GP today and have to say I think he is now a spent force. Yes he will have podiums though not that many. He may even win a race probably by default. Don't think he will win another title though. Now I am not a Rossi hater just saying what I see. I even wonder if he will be there next season. Probably will be because of the contract and obviously marketing as well. What do others think ?
I think he has been an incredible rider and his number of world titles shows his pedigree. There have been quite a few great riders in the past andt I personally find it hard to compare rider to rider historically as there have been so many improvements to motorbikes over the years, especially all the electronic wizardry. I think Rossi's last GP title was his last, a fantastic run and he is still a great rider. He may well win a race or two, but the opposition is very strong, Marquez is something special IMO, he already has a great winning history and will hopefully have a long career. Rossi is riding a fantastic bike and I reckon that if Cal was riding it he would be quicker than VR. We all get older and 'every dog has it's day' and I just think that as far as Moto GP titles go, VR has seen his last.
Yes I am a massive Rossi fan and like you say "every dog has his day" it's no different then say football Beckhams was good in his day but now just charges around getting paid a little less for "living the dream " I just hope he gets out before he becomes a joke like Colin Edwards .
I think Rossi is just bedding back in after two awful seasons on the Ducati. Give him a couple more races and hopefully we will see the master back.
When your young and have done it all and have lost a very good mate whilst racing and perhaps have 100 million in the bank is it really worth putting that extra in ? Yes once a racer always a racer but young Guns rule .Sad but true .
as exfire says .. rossi won his titles using skill and understanding to ride the bike, if the bikes they ride today didnt have the electronics to control bike grip he would still be showing the others how to ride. it is the same with rally drivers , you watch a new rally car set off , it doesnt wheelspin , the back end never goes out. no doubt loeb is a good driver ,but the electronics help a hell of a lot.
Huge Rossi fan myself, who can deny that record or the memories he's brought motogp. But unfortunately I think his time has passed. Happens to everyone, just so sad to see, but least we have excitement back in the series with Marquez (although I think he was out of order today) and cal banging on the door is keeping it interesting.
Couldnt agree more on how the technology is taking over, its a computer that makes those bikes go round the track and its sad to say the rider is now there to just press all the right buttons. launch control, wheelie controll, traction control, fuel management ect ect has ruined motogp. bring back the 500cc animals and then lets see who is really in control of there bike
Keep the faith people He rode like a demon in Qatar, and you could tell that the bike was handling at the front end today Even Lorenzo who has been developing the bike over the last few years says it poor at the minute. Lets hope Valentino will be back at it at Lemans. Marquez does look a class act although I think he will end up on the floor and taking others with him a few times this year. Lets behold the fact that Moto GP is back from the doldrums
Why do you think Edwards is a joke? He's doing a job he loves, and on a CRT bike he was just 2.5 seconds slower than the fastest lap. Not what you'd call a joke in my mind.
For the Non believers I rest my case! Rossi's back! Superb race in Assen, got his bike right, got qualifying right and Kicked Ass. Gonna make the most of this season and next, cause when he's gone Moto GP will be an empty place. Well done to Cal too another excellent weekend
I'm not a fan of Rossi at all but it was a good race. Without saying it was luck, it certainly helped having Lorenzo and Marquez injured and Pedrosa putting an average performance. One win in my view does not constitute being back, lets see what he does for the rest of the season before we declare the doctor being back.
JLo would have probably won if not injured. Rossi would have still beat Marquez. Because if the injured Marquez beat Cal and the titanium gnome, then theyre both crap. You dont win Motogp races by luck
Struggling to make sense of that.... Huge Rossi fan, who else has done what he's done and he's entertained me for years....even this weekend I can't put my finger in it... When he is on the hunt - IT'S EXCITING... No record comes close IMO but I do think he's fading. All natural and happens to the best. But let's appreciate what's he's brought to the sport, and the fact he's a special talent, who else would have won what he has (in the modern era only running in one class per weekend) Outstanding. Won't beat it for a long time IMO Vr46 I salute you. Legend
Its a big shame that Marco Simoncelli isn`t still about, it would be interesting to find out team line ups if he were about. When Rossi goes, there aint a lot left with a great character(riding/personality).
Typing on an ipad is shite... if Lorenzo wasnt injured, he would have probably won and Rossi 2nd beating Marquez(injured or not). MMs injuries arent that bad as he still beat Cal and Dani and neither are too shabby. 1 the pole man, the other a 2013 multiple race winner. Take nothing away frm VR. He won it fair, by pure determination. Hes a bit slower.. But still an alien
