So, its insurance renewal time again. I called Carole Nash this afternoon to ask why they can’t be bothered to re insure me as they haven’t sent me any reminder and my insurance runs out on the 15th of this month.

They gave me a quote of £425 full comp which is less than last year but when I questioned it they reduced it to £350. I also asked them for a quote for a red 20 grand Italian superbike, they said they would call me back but didn’t.

Looking at Go Compare this evening and the best quote for my 2011 ABS blade was from Bennetts, now get this…….£254 and its £189 if I dump the breakdown cover which is a given with Carole Nash that I can’t delete and only £123 if legal and personal accident goes west as well.

Go Compare is also giving me quotes from Bennetts for a town in Italy for £251.

Makes you think doesn’t it…. ! Is it me or are Carole Nash having my leg up even though I know they are pretty good if the shit is in the fan.

I am 51 and ridden bikes since I was 17 other than a sabbatical during my divorce so I am not exactly a bad risk unless of course they are taking Alzheimer's & Dementia into account.

Anyone got any experience of Bennett’s when a claim is made?

I had a claim when I was hit with the girlfriend on the back of the blackbird. Really can't complain about the service mate.

Was with Bennetts when I wrote a bike off and everything went smoothly enough. They rape you if you want to change any details so make sure you check what they send through, also the don't like more than 3 mods if you do it online. Oh yeas, next year at renewal time, mind out they try and auto-renew, they will add an admin fee for doing the renewal

I'm with MCE.....when I had the blade new June 2011 they were the most competitive...........after first year they wanted a increase from around £385 to over £500..........so I said I would hunt about........ Used Go compare and guess what yes I got my saving........MCE again !!! but as I was paying about the same as the first year I thought ah well no change...........this year they are coming out at £ 174.95 via the "Bike insurer".......I made some online enquiry's this time last year and received a email notice yesterday ????..........Its a massive lottery and totally unfair......... !!

Surprised to find a £100 reduction on my renewal premium today. Covers off most of the £150 increase last year for the RR6 being stolen (which was an 80% increase!). So coming in at £225 protected NCB.

    KentBlade!

You're still around. Hadn't seen your bike parked in town for a while.

Until you're all paying over £995 fully comp, you're getting it cheap.

1400 tpft thanks to a theft.... the renewals come through for 400quid online but they obviously aren't factoring that in :(

F! Me! I though £995 after a theft was bad... They really spanked you... (Mind you the cheapest I got after my old bike was stolen in Feb was the previous insurer! Say what you like, but sometimes a renewal is OK :) )

Yeah had to go with the same company as before so they were laughing all the way to the bank with this one.... Paid out less than agreed then hiked up my premium! I highly recommend them.....

Can be pretty certain that they will hit you with an admin fee. Not sure what sort of quote they would give you. Could be worth seeing if they would do a multibike policy that could cover you for another bike.

Thanks Matey. That’s not a bad idea as there may be a short crossover of having both in the garage. Bennets offer for the Panigale was also surprisingly good given the capital price/value risk.
I also called Carole Nash this morning and asked why no one called my back on Thursday, or emailed me the new £350 offer. Very apologetic as the fella was I told him that they had given me time to go on GoCompare to get a quote, which I re did again this morning. Now, get this, the same quote I got on Thursday evening for £254 from Bennetts is now £198 !!!! with a lower excess !!!! So I told Carole Nash I won’t be renewing unless they can get close to that offer. I was told they would ring me back within the hour……Guess what, they haven’t.
I just don't understand the insurance industry, there seems to be no rhyme or reason to what they offer.

Now thats the great thing about forums, I have done the compare websites and no good, but reading this thread just phoned Bennetts, £161 fully comp protected ncb, would not have thought to have rung them direct

    Happy bunny here.

Don't insure with bewiser or europa, had a 600rr7 insured with them fully paid for the year, sold it to fund purchase of fireblade, wanted £100+ to insure my bandit 600 for remaining 2 months of my policy, had to sell it too for blade, they wouldn't even quote me for blade! Went to H&R for £200 fully comp on the blade:)

Well it’s all sorted and I am very pleased with this year’s renewal, all but after a few problems with Carole Nash. I finally got the renewal notification from CN yesterday at £350 but the excess had gone up to £600, with auto renew in place, which I had told them last year I wanted to opt out of. Re did the Go Compare once again and got an offer from Bennetts for £207 with legal, helmet and leathers, breakdown and personal accident cover, the excess being £250.
I called Bennetts and got the cost reduced to £190 over the phone. Job done.

When I called CN to say I didn’t want to renew I was told as the renew date is within the next 7 days that it was to late. The letter clearly states that cancellation must be done before then. I tired to not get angry whilst informing them that the letter was dated 11th July and it didn’t get it till the 12th and if they check there records they will see I have made at least 4 phone calls in the last week to try and sort it out. They begrudgingly agreed to cancel it but I am still half expecting the money to be taken and a fight to get it back. We will see what happens. They also won’t send me the proof of NC’s without me calling back again after the 15th.

If you have your new insurance sorted then cancel he direct debit with you bank for CN so they can't take the money if they decide to be awkward ;)

Thanks Navvy, I would but I didn’t pay by DD, I paid in full on my bank debit card. So have no way of stopping it if they decide to have my pants down. I guess I will find out soon enough.
