A good tip to avoid this is replace the ss screw with a HT steel socket head bolt that you can get out of the cone with a magnetic telescopic tool if you drop it.
put one on my 2013 aswell couple of weeks ago but had a few problems getting good fit, did u remove the standard exhaust gasket or left it in place, ive left in place ? Mine sounds grt and works fine but cant get the heat shield on, need about 10mm further to right to connect up the screws. Did u use weird looking instrument to tighten up all the exhaust springs before mounting?
Mine was second hand so a couple of bits were missing, the spring tool was one of them, the small springs were easy enough but the larger ones to the can were put on before I fitted the exhaust to the bike, the graffite gasket is not used with the yoshi, it says this in the instructions and to be fair it would not fit anyway, mines a 2011 bike on a 12 plate so it may be different to yours, it took some positioning to avoid it touching the chassis and it wouldn't come back to enable me to align the muffler to the bracket that secures it. As for the heat shield I was given one for a 2011 and 2013 bike so one I had figured which fitting were for which it was relatively easy to fit.
cheers Carl, My bikes in Repsol colours aswell- BEAUTIFUL!! I didn't go near any of the springs before installing because didn't say to do in instructions? tried moving parts when on bike after loosening everything to try and make heatshield fit but they wouldn't budge but this was after i'd done 150mls without heatshield so maybe fused etc Are u saying u tightened springs before installing- if so that's probably were i'm losing the 10mm? Anyway going for first service on Tuesday so will ask mechanics to try and sort it or if I've been sent wrong heatshield- IS THERE ANYTHING EASY IN LIFE- NOOOOOOOO PAL YOU GOT OFF ON THE WRONG PLANET!!!
Because my springs were on it was almost impossible to move by hand, I used a small wooded hand brush as leverage in between the bends, gently of course, you need to position the pipe so the bracket for the heat shield is in line. All good fun
Anyone worked out a way to stop the hunting at idle, apart from putting in the bung? Richer, no difference,Leaner, no difference...looks like that's just the way it is unless someone can enlighten me.
Don't you start David, and what the hell has pampas grass go to do with a Yoshi, bi-sexual or keys in a bowl, all of which excites me anyway! Where are the two new mods when one needs one
Yoshi is a character in Super Mario, bi-sexual is Sean Connery asking what Chris Hoy does for a living, keys in a bowl are a kind of lime and a pampas grass on the front lawn was a symbol for something in the west midlands many many years ago. There. Moderated!
Looks brill & one the nicest to look at. I may consider getting an aftermarket exhaust as my only gripe is the stock exhaust on the blade looks dame ugly. If I decide to get a slip on Yoshi, Akro or similar do I need to get the bike re-mapped or ecu tweeked? Or can you just simply fit a slip on & away you go? The main reason for me to change exhausts is two fold - aesthetics & sound (not too loud though). The blade has more than power that I would ever be able to use so not necessarily looking for a big power increase.
All those that want and use the power would recommend a power commander but to be honest it's not really noticeable for me, I've experienced no power flat spots though it hunts a little on tickover but that is no reason to get a commander, for me anyway?
I didnt ride mine without the PCV as I fitted the pipe and PC at the same time but even with the PC I havent been able to dial out the hunt at tickover without putting the baffle in.
Yoshi or Akky with baffle in should just bolt on and let you ride away happily with no further mods needed
You need a dyno tune like me as baffle out lets out a lot more exhaust at idle compared to standard so some minor fueling adjustment fixes that
can you give me the PC5 numbers from your map that are at 0% throttle? I have tried =/_ 5% @ 1250-1500RPM and it didnt make much difference.
