WhiteHaven outing today.* May as well pour a drink before you start reading.* Today Thefirebloke JetMadBlade *'+ his mate Robby' Rushforthk and Garyb* Headed out for a blast to Whitehaven.* The intention was just for Steve and I to have a run together, neither of us fancied the Wales run, for totally different reasons, so we thought we'd have a gelling session in prep for our European trip.* In the mean time Lee had decided he'd tag on with us with his mate, and Kevin would join us, as he'd just got off a plane from San Francisco.* 7.45am leathers on time to get the blade out.* Non starter, Ya Basta. Flat battery. Your truly decided to clip the brake lever up last night, remember the issues with ABS flattening the battery? I had just become a victim. *Straight onto optimate see if I can get enough in to start Rang Steve to let him know I'll Cut across and meet at Churchtown.* Finally got the bike to start at 8.30am, let Steve know I was on my way.* Just left the top of the street fuel light on Double Basta, stopped at local garage 'took spare key' managed to get six ltrs of tit in before the pump decided to have a fit Triple Basta! Got to the A6 at 8.50am, now even for me, that's some going considering.* When I got there, these three chaps were waiting for me Left to right.* Robby Steve Lee Proper fuel up for me, then I'm allowed to join the gang Honestly I'm not on my hands and knees, it's just my gloves Thefirebloke with his fast black We got away from the garage at 9.15, off to Devils Bridge.* Nice ride up, we managed it in 25minutes We met up with Kevin Devils bridge rammed full Time to head off after a drink we headed out onto the A65 towards the lake district.* Picking up the A5092, what an awesome road, quite technical in places, one or two tighten up when you least expect it, well it surprised me! Had 1 stop along the way so Steve could have a stretch, he's suffering from his off last week, and you can tell.* Into Whitehaven we parked up on the harbour wall, A nice dinner had at the little bistro, we all got extra portions for free too, Quadruple Basta A *seagull flies over and is a crack shot, new leathers christened.* Young waitress asks if we need some tissues, the old no it will be miles away joke suitable fell on its face.* Lee thinks he's spotted the seagull? Ooh, hello
Boats.* leaving Whitehaven in the background, we head back to Devils Bridge, Thefirebloke decided he needed a break for a stretch, I'd got left on a couple of sections due to lack of overtaking opportunities but least they all waved to me as I flew past, with great Panache by all accounts , turned around and got back to them after five minutes to find this Oldest pub in the lakes ever, probably? Suitable rested back to devils for an ice cream.* Say bye to Kevin and then its back the same way for us, split at the Marriot Preston and back home for 6.10pm, MrsB holding a bottle as I entered the garage. Mint.* A great day with 250 miles. All of which were done at *comfortable speeds, one or two moments but hey, that's biking, the result? I had a ball, Oh and guess what......No chicken strips left on the tyres Sure the others will be along with their version soon.* Thanks for looking.*
Looks like a great ride out today guys! One of our lot had an awful time today with bad luck too but maybe I'll leave it for him to share if he can bare to recall it... Bird shit is lucky right??
Ha, I'd like to think I played a part tiring him out Jason. Perhaps mentally drained is as close as I can get, he'll be drawing a pension by the time we get back from Spain
The front pads were knackered by the way. They started grinding 15 miles in... check out the disk in photo no.4 ... But I didn't need the front brake anyway Bike in bits to be serviced now... Disks, pads, Rear tyre, Chain and sprockets, oil + filter, fork oil and the back soggy shock looked at....
Sorry to disappoint you Jason but I won't be hanging my sportsbike gloves up for quite some time yet..........and as for a Harley......Wash your filthy mouth out!!! Nice ride out to Whitehaven again, nice to meet a couple of new fellas and put up with a couple of old ones! Good steady pace and fantastic weather yet again. Also a distinct lack of plod, which is always nice. The cafe on the quayside serves great, cheap food and is always a good part of the run out.
Sounds like you all had a great day, but guess what, pic number 5 at devils bridge, i took a double take and theres me (billy no mates) sat on the wall in the background not knowing you were forum members, but i'll catch you next time. john
Did you have a 1000RR.co.uk sticker on the fairing? If so I just copped site of the sticker as you were leaving, otherwise we'd have asked you to join us.
Yes that was me with the 1000rr sticker, i'd been there awhile and had told the better half i'd be back for lunch, but a missed opportunity all the same.
Shame we didnt spot you earlier, we could have written you a note for the wife and you'd have had a ride out to Whitehaven into the bargain. Always worth checking the threads mate. Peeps moving about all over the place with this good weather.
