Blew out the Essex Ride out lads (still depressed about it) due to paying so much on the monthly payments on the bike that I cant afford to ride it lol.

Been saving up the cinema codes from the sweets and were taking the ourselves out for a family visit to see "Monsters University" this afternoon.
Thinking about it, I might change my username to 'PikeyBill' ;)

Although with no cash my bike is getting cleaned more so she is looking good lol

have a good weekend guys & totty!

First of all, I am not a trainspotter, okay...

There was, however a steam excursion running through the village this morning and I do like a steam locomotive having a blat.

Camera in hand, I wandered across the field, over the railway line and found a nice spot in the middle of nowhere, where I could chew on a bit of grass and wait for the puffer to come through undisturbed.

About 10 minutes into my vigil, I hear behind me.... "Wdfk[ dsdgjpsdd f[qppppmc doing. Fiopjaas oksopdjio over there!"

    WTF!

I turned around and sure enough, 'Dog dragged, chew polo mints without breaking them, scuba goggles', is lurching down the path towards me. There's probably a couple of thousand people in my village so bumping into this muppet twice in one weekend is like some kind of punishment. However, armed with my new understanding of his own private language, I deciphered, " I say, why are you perched on top of that gate? Do you have permission from the farmer for that? Are you taking photographs or some such thing?

I ignored all but the last question and as articulate as I could manage said, "Yes."

He then got quite animated about whether his dog, a rather attractive Red Setter might spoil the shot. Given that he looks like he fell out of the ugly tree and head butted every branch on the way down, I thought this was an ill observed comment on his part and chose to ignore the obvious answer and settled for the standby "Well the sooner you piss off, the less chance there is of it, isn't there!"

This seemed to do the trick and he lurched off into the marshes.

Well my one hour test ride on the BMW S1000RR turned into a two hour blast on a bike that is far superior to my rr-04, it is by far the best bike I've ever ridden and I need one in my life. I'm pretty certain that I'll be selling the blade when I return from Afghan and will be buying an S1000RR but I'll wait to see what Honda's offering is for 2014 along with Yamaha's new triple and I might even take an Aprillia RSV4 out for a blast.

It was Ling’s charity Norfolk Firefighters driving challenge today at RAF Cottishall today. We rocked up at the allotted time for sign on and event briefing, during which we were told that partners could join if they wanted, stump up £100 and your in but not compete in the Lady’s challenge. I was not that bothered but thought in for a penny, in for a hundred quid.

There were five zones each with different types of vehicle to drive.

First up for us was pillion ride on both a Harley Davidson and a BMW.I passed, thinking I can’t be bothered. Ling got asked and jumped at it……figure that. First on the BMW she told the guy it was her first time so he said relax and just follow me. Off they went returning ten minutes later, did you enjoy it I said, yes but he didn’t go very fast or lean over like I have seen you do. The guy looked at me and said about ninety on the straights! Do you want to go again then? So she did, this time he took off at a fair rate of knots returning much quicker this time. That was better she said, can I go on the Harley now. So she did. Again, the Harley owner shot off and when he returned he said she was a natural and he didn’t even know she was on the back. Come on then mate show me what you just showed her and I jumped on the back of the Harley. I have to say the guy was quite quick, not by our superbike standards, but still quick. I had already told them I have a Fireblade so he knew I wouldn’t do anything stupid and tipped it into the corners scrapping the pegs on every bend. When we got back I said thank you and by the way, you didn’t ride like that with Ling did you. Fcuk yes he said, she asked me to go faster………….
So that’s screwed my solo biking days as she wants to get some gear and come out with me. Not sure if I am happy or sad about it really.

We moved on through Various Fire appliances, ridged and articulated trucks, sports cars including an old Rolls Royce, super tractors and combines. Police cars, earth movers, diggers and 4x4’s on a wild dirt track. You name it she drove it.

It was an awesome day and well worth the £100 extra for me to have a pop, even though I have driven most of the road going vehicles at some point over the years.

It was all rapping up at about five with all the vehicles lined up for a photo shot when one of the organizers came over and said to Ling. Well done, you have not only won the challenge out right but you are also the highest fund raiser. The Chief Fire Officer for Norfolk wants to present you with both prizes in front everyone. I thought I was going to piss myself as I was laughing so hard I forgot to take a photo, whilst hearing that no one had ever scored so high on all events other than one of the earth movers (I will post it later when they send it to us). Another fire fighter spoke to us afterwards and said the CFO had also invited us for a day out with them training, if for no other reason than to find out if there is anything they can throw at her that will faze her. So we are going training with them for water and high building rescue, she will be cut out of a car. Put a fire out with a hose and anything else they can think of in the meantime that might test her abilities.

I am well proud of her even though it looks like I will be out of pocket buying her some leathers and a helmet

Outstanding, David. I see they even monogrammed the wagon for her.

I don't like the shoes you're wearing on the Hog though.

I have to say Ken, despite nearly pulling out as neither of us were in the mood, what with Jack's operation. But having spoken to him this morning and him saying go and enjoy it, so we went and we did enjoy it. It did occur to me when she got on the first bike, shorts and silly little shoes, also when I was on the back my legs and feet also felt very vulnerable being in shorts and trainers.

Oh no, you're not luring me into owning up to knowing more than is cool about railway locomotives, leaving myself open to Jimbo's derision.

Even though it's obvious that it's not a Deltic but a Type 47 pushing 'Nunney Castle' because there were concerns about it's spark arrestors not being able to stop wildfires breaking out in the current clement weather...

Well after the last week of unusually hot weather I washed my textile jacket and gave my leather trousers a scrub too! Ready for a ride out tomorrow
