As per the title I have decided my current laptop Toshiba Satellite with Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 2.1ghz with 4gb ram is not quick enough now I am using full 1080p footage

Aldi have a pc on their THursday deal, but have seen the following which look fair

    MEDIONshop UK | Everyday PCs

    Current favourite is this option

    MEDIONshop UK | MEDION® AKOYA® E2319 D

ANyone suggest alternatives for around that £ or anything to look for - I know I should know this stuff, but at work the US decide our desktop / laptop make and model with no input from me so never look into them!

Have a monitor to use - thought of mac but think they are £1,000+ to get something usable ?

    Get the Mac mate.
If need be you can pay it up over 4 years !

Even I can edit my videos now. And that says something.

the only problem with a mac is that you can no longer burn onto a dvd to give to your mates . as i have found out this week.
i used to be able to because all macs had idvd built in to them , but you can no longer even purchase idvd as the licence has expired.
i had made an i movie of our trip to the tt but can not put it onto a dvd that will play on a tv/ dvd player (not impressed)
all i can do is upload it to youtube (max 15 minutes and the quality goes up the swanny ,and if you put any music on the video they will remove it due to copyright issues)
or make it into an mp4 file which you can only watch on a computer.
all this because "lord vader jobs" decreed that dvds were old technology that he couldnt make enough money out of.

I find the £1,500 cost of a mac over a £400 PC which with Windows 8 hear it is getting much closer to Mac 'easy of use / look and feel' / stability etc.

I brought up just this thread last year. Still not got a new one yet. Want for video editing. Nothing out there specific for it. But I did the mac vs windows and will not be buying apple. Great little desktop. Limited and lots o need to buy just to get what I already have software wise and no DVD drive so sod em.

Costco for the money have the best desktop for the money I have seen. Check out their website Costco UK - TVs, Appliances, BBQ's, Sheds, Furniture, Food, Wine & More!

You could just build yourself one. My son has built a gaming specific tower for £1000 and he's doing a home/crafting one for the misses for £500.

That assumed you have the time, incantation and ability to build something that will work and what spec components to use.

That's what children are for, most ten year olds should be able to do it (mind you my son is 29).
