    I agree Red.

As I posted earlier, as far as I am concerned, I need everything to be spot on for the road more than I would do if I was just track riding.

Answer re road and track is..... you don't get nicked on track.....lol

Few bikes from new have the good stuff, MV, Triumph and a few others use good quality R&T forks, most Ducati and many other use fairly average Ohlins, for example the nitride coating only plates where you see, etc etc...

I have full race FG43 FGRT329 with superbike valves and anti dive shim stack and HO606 Ex BSB shock in my blade, what does it ride like, the BALLs that's what! Better than OEM, well I'm not even going to bother to answer that!!! Woth the money fkin right! Waisted on me, possibly....lol So why then, well, why not! You will be hard pushed to buy a bike even a HP4 that has such exotic forks and shock and IMO it will nearly always be better than most off the showroom floor motorcycles! Unless you by say a nice MV RR! But that's near 30k and the price reflects what you get IMO...

Im a believer in why trade when you can upgrade... or just keep buying "standard" run of the mill motorcycles....lol

    also,

you will need to know that it will still need to be sprung for you and setup for you, after market shocks also often alow you to change the geom of the bike too, they have a huge amount of adjustment and can be valved to do what ever you want, road, track whatever... R&T forks are very track focused from out the box and are HARSH when used on the road IMO, they will need setting up and possibly re valving to get them plush as they need to be for fast road riding. Track focused suss does not work well on the road. So budget for setup etc... if your planning on doing it yourself then take into account they have huge range and respond very well some people buy it and then realise they have bitten off more than they can chew.... for example 30 clicks of comp, 30 reb, preload etc etc, the new R&T forks now have comp on one leg and reb on the other, does it effect the handling....well if its good enough for top level forks at around 10grand a pair to start with then it must work ;)

    :)

    And this proves what ?

If you like the standard set up that is fine, no-one is asking you to change yours. But if I or anyone else wants to change theirs to suit what they want then that is up to them.

The standard set up does not suit everyone, if it did then road users and track users would all keep everything stock.

I am pretty sure Marquez would be faster on my bike than I would be, all that proves is he is a better rider.

I can ride faster and safer on my modified bike

thats a pretty poor example as 1.44 in the BSB is absolute pants, wont even get you on the grid in the thou s/stock.

This thread is getting quite aggressive since the OP 'had a pop' at me for pointing out that 'Ohlins'ing' up a new Blade puts it right in standard HP4 territory, or even better this 13 Plate Aprilia RSV4 Factory for £13.5K

    News

He's asked the Q and got his answers, although I suspect it was a pointless exercise as he'd already made his mind up he was having the full set up.

That's fine then, each to their own and Peeps can spend their cash how ever they see fit.

    Thread closed I say? :)

Wow you race it ...............what level ? Moto GP , WSB or BSB ?

Judging by your opinions that the suspension is fine stock for road use for all riders you could perhaps stick to riding them rather than advising people. Cos quite frankly your lack of knowledge is pretty scary.

Bored now so will leave this thread alone, no time for trolls.

The guy asked if what he was proposing was Ok not a lecture about buying a different bike or leaving it stock.

So am I correct in thinking all you guys who make a point that travelling at 110mph on a public road is illegal never do it??????????? I doubt it very much - I'm pretty sure everyone on this forum has at one time or another exceeded 100mph on a public road - lets be honest here.

i can read perfectly well, but you seem to be contradicting yourself a tad,in one breathe your stating that stock suspension is fine for 44's round oulton, but then as you "race" you have a full upgrade, unless of course your doing sub 44's around oulton?what times do you do in motogrande at oulton?

imo my opinion, theres only 1 other place i'd spend my money before suspension, and thats tuition/instruction.but suspension comes a very close 2nd.

I'm embarrassed to admit I sometimes go under 100mph on public roads.....

    ;)

But I'd have a full set up for the road and track everytime! If I could afford it....

    dummy spat? :p

funny how some people can make bold comments/statements but then when questioned they would rather bolt out the door then give an explanation or back themselves up.i'm guessing he doesn't go round under 1.44 at oulton then......

he's still on TDR so will look forward to more insightfull comments from him (tbh i dont think he likes me as my bike puts out more power than his lol)

Trouble is and being in the trade as are others on this forum I see it every day is that everyone's an expert. For some reason motorcycling in particular and being a 'biker' means you should know all about the oily bits, be able to service your bikes, be a fast rider etc, it's a macho past time (no offence ladies) but it does bring out billy big balls and his mates every day.

No offence to anyone intended it's just what I see.

    It would appear so scooby...

Don't understand folk that get precious if everyone doesn't agree with them?

Lets face it, is stock suspension awesome these days - yes
Is it adequate for track days - yes
If you have a track bike and are running pretty quick would you like to upgrade it - yes
Will ohlins benefit you on the road - IMO yes
Would anybody on this forum turn down a free swap to a full ohlins set up - don't think so ;)
