I know on my brothers 2008 Fireblade to remove the rear footrests you had to take off half the bodywork to get to the bolts, a real pain to do. On the 2012/13 models are they the same or have they made them like the rear number plate hanger where they can be unbolted easily ? If not has anyone 'adapted' them so you can bolt them on from underneath ?
Big Job on the 12/13 models too. Involves splitting the Rear Sub-Frame. Only Ride Solo on mine but can't be arsed will all that Faff. Rear Footrest hangers are useful for strapping down on T'Ferry though!
Talking to the guy at the dealership when I got my new one and he said it is a 2 hour job for the mechanics to take them off and re-assemble the rear. A about £60/hour for mechanics (I.e. what they charge you for labour wise) is it really worth it ?
All I could think of would be to fit longer bolts through with locknuts holding them then get another models rear footrests that have open holes that the bolts would go through with another pair of locknuts underneath. i think its morally illegal to have pillion rests & seat on a cbr1000rr - if the bike could talk, it would say FFF NO to pillions, especially big fat female ones.
I was worried about removing the rear pegs after hearing what a bitch it was. After the first go. to remove pegs it was not that difficult. Then needed to strip it down for track fairing and is nothing more than a 30 min job. I managed with my BIL to remove the split the rear subframe in about 15 min after a cock up with a few wires. So like anything it get much easier and my advice would be to give it a go. Take pics as you go and record where bolts need to go
Yeah not a bad job if you was a bit closer id do it FOC my bike has been in bits a few times . I fitted the sato street hooks these allow footpegs to be just bolted on and these are cracking for strapping the bike up
Probably preaching to the converted but when it's MOT time, remember you must have the seat cowl fitted. A rear seat with no rear footrests is an MOT fail.
WW like those sato hooks, if I get mine off I will defo fit them. Yours is same model and colour as mine, I always find taking fairing off a right pain, already broke one tab
Bodywork is terrible really compared to the rr6 model but the demand for the extra kilo off makes everything flimsy
Like those Sato brackets, might make some without the tie downs As I would not use them. Where did you get those , USA ??
