i bought a genuine but secondhand seat cowl for mine and it rattled too. in the cowl kit theres rubber damers to fit to the tail unit so i just ordered the fitting kit from honda and job done. now fits like a glove. enjoy her!!
Hi Guys, Right, the bloody tail tidy was 'lost' by Uk Mail between Manchester and Newcastle so needless to say it was not delivered yesterday and had removed the original and the rear subframe to take the footrest hangers off so could not go out on the bike !! This morning rang Uk Mail and they had 'found' it and it was at the Newcastle depot but they would not deliver it so I had to make a 44 mile round trip to collect it. Spent half the day fitting it as my led flashers were going twice as fast as they should, something they have never done on any other bike that I have had them fitted to. I knew that I had some resistors 'in a safe place' so took about an hour to find them and it took ages to fasten them safely to avoid melted plastics. Also got my Ventureshield kit but not had time to do anything with that yet, job for tomorrow as it is forecast rain. Had a 10 minute run to show my brother and it felt strange compared to the 848, probably just until I get used to it so not had a chance to take some decent photos yet just a couple of crappy ones close up in the garage. Looks much better with the scaffolding removed from the back and the small flashers though. Will take some better photos tomorrow.
Yes, Dunlops, I think I have it in my head they are shit which is not the right frame of mind really. Got to give them a chance, odds are they are better than I will be. Forecast has turned crap, monsoon tomorrow apparently, Sod's law when I have a new bike !!
Look mate I've the same bike , same tyres , has you , Did just over 3000 miles on them and had no bother at all ,
Mine came with Qualifier 2's on, fecked em off at the first service mainly due to needing a tyre that performed in the wet due to a Southern Ireland Tour having been booked. In all fairness the Dunlops were not half bad in the dry, but were shyte in the damp/greasy/wet May weather. Running Pirelli Rosa Corsa's now, well sticky!
Had Diablo Rosso 2's on my old blade. Fantastic tyre and will be changing the bridgestones to these I think
Its just the R&G 2012/13 version, Someone has one for sale in the classified section although it is just about retail price but I am sure you could negotiate something with him. They are normally £80. Honda CBR1000RR (2012 onward) Tail Tidy Licence Plate Holder LP0113BK
Jim, if you want that tail tidy I will do a deal with you. Hurry up and let me know though as it's on Ebay too. Ian, I priced it as that as with delivery from R&G it works out about £87. I have it down as £75.
Iang27 very nice!! I have also just taken delivery of my HRC. who makes those indicators? They look really good. Also how was taking the rear foot pegs off? I am about to start it this weekend!!
Yes needed resistors. Used them one every bike I have had and this is the first one I have needed to fit resistors. Footpegs are a pain but once you know how to do it takes maybe 30 mins. You have to remove each side of the subframe separately, two big bolts ( Watch one has a nut on the back ) and one joining the two sides together that you cannot get too until all the items below are removed. remove seat side panels, they just pull off. Remove seat. 4 bolts under rear passenger grab area, bolts under seat cowl, 4 silver short bolts (you will see them) and 2 silver bolts from underneath, oh and 2 plastic plugs. Think that's it !! I am going to get or make some of those extensions to enable the footrests to be fitted if ever required.
