hey pcrr - only 5k on it huh, wow, thats a steal - ive got the R&G tail tidy too and love it - personally i love the taylormade exhaust but it doesnt seem to be as popular in the UK from what i see dont know why - and yeah, i love my short billet levers. not my bike but thought id show you the look of the taylormade - its very tidy and gives an awesome sound
I think the problem with the taylor made ones is (or at least was) the quality of the materials used, and i think remembering back to some bike mags that they lost power rather than gained any due to the shape of the pipe. I could be wrong and am completely relying on memory here. I do however think they look great myself, they make the blade look even sleeker than it is.
Welcome mate Bladewitch I had the Taylormade exhaust which indeed looks and sounds lovely but I removed due to being too loud for trackdays and I can confirm they do lower the power output of the blade compared to the other exhausts. It's more for looks than performance
Hi and Welcome to the forum. I also have a Scorpion exhaust, with the Cat converter box.... I wonder if Scorpion will sell an S-bend pipe for it, and if it would fit??
hey navvy - that takes me by surprise as its the opposite we've found here - hmm - what year did you test the taylormade ? you have me intrigued.
Would it need to be a S bend?? I was thinking of going to an exhaust fabricator to see if they can make a piece so box underneath could be removed.
That was in comparison to the Yoshi R77. When I swapped them over and went for a ride the bike now pulls the wheel up with more torque and power. The difference was like night and day. Are you running a PCV with the TM exhaust?
In early tests of the exhausts available for the blade it was found that the cans that got rid of the s bend ended up losing power, the ones that had the s bend made power. I think it was Fast Bikes, or Ride that found this on one of the long termers, they settled on a yoshi can in the end as at the time it was the only one that had the s bend in it.
With the scorpion is it the box underneath or the end can making it quiet?? If its the box underneath I will keep scorpion end can and get a s shaped link pipe made.
You will probably find that the scorpion can still has a catalyst in it, the s pipe will de-cat the bike, thus making it louder and produce more power, but the shape of the pipe is the crucial part. So the box is the part making it quiet. Another thing to check is has the can got the removeable baffle fitted?
Was going to or auto advance exhausts in Newcastle. Might wait till winter then take it to bits at the same time as I take off rear pegs.
hey navvy - i run a TM - but i cant compare to others as ive not had them on to compare - from what i see - TM loose power at low rpm and very high rpm but midrange it gains rpm but ive not tested it myself - i know you loose about 4 kg and clean up your aerodynamics with the TM.
Talkin about getting a new can. I've just got an 08 blade with a carbon yoshi can (Pete I notice you have one). Put the baffle in today ready for silverstone Tuesday, what a bloody nightmare. I managed to get it in after ages but it will be staying in as it was such a pain, I don't think they could have made it more difficult.
As i found out though, the trade off in power for baffle in and out isnt worth having to worry about taking it out. The difference between torque and power for baffle in and out is this. bhp difference: 0.92bhp torque difference: 0.28 lb/ft Nowhere near anything you will notice. And in fact throughout the lower revs and up to about 10krpm the bike produces more power and torque with the baffle in. The yoshi system is well made
