Been there a few times myself young Tyke, it all goes towards your biking memoirs for future reference.
Yeah first time inters first time oulton first time in wet. what do they say? Something about hindsight being a wonderful thing? Im sure in years to come when you lot are all in biker heaven i will be stressing the same advice on other younger tykes when all this is forgotten and they are flying around on their hoverbikes.
Young Tyke refuses to believe he's actually fallen off and continues to adopt correct riding position!
Oulton Park 31/07/13 My slant on the day.* What can I say that hasn't already? *What really just started off to be a Gary *getting to grips with a bit of confidence for our European trip turned into perhaps the second most popular turn out for the forum this year. I for one when I first posted this expected it be subscribed to in such a manner.* So how did it go for me............... I arrived at Oulton Park at 6.15am, true to his word Scooby had got us two garages put to one side for the days gathering.* On behalf of everyone Scooby. A massive thank you for dropping this in for us, what with the unseasonal weather it made the day that little bit more tenable.* Here I am. Oulton park. A day I thought would never come.* * Within ten minutes of my arrival Jason Rolls in and reveals the new paint job to me So I crack to it and get the bike off the trailer.....or do I ? With much pulling and grunting, I can't get the bike to come out the front stand.* Much head scratching later, Jason casually mentions the fact it could be in gear. See, that's the pros for you.* As the clouds begin to gather, so does the rest of the group.* And7rp2 Mr Smooth himself. Thefirebloke* Meanwhile Jason sets about changing to wets, Jason admires Andy's box. It is a nice box, available from all good hardware stores I must change the decal on the back.* Andy's mates arrive in style.*
Enjoyed myself today, was good meeting you all. Glad everyone is ok. Nice action moves on the grass Tyke.
Jimbo Vills and Dave V getting jiggly jiggly.* Come on Dave. One more push and she's out.* Now come on, out you get they are only northerners. * Alblade Asking YT for for ID Around the garage.*
And you can't beat breaking out the Metrosexual clothing. So that's the pics. I started to give my slant didn't I. I can honestly say, I have never experiences such a mix of emotions in one day.* I had the wrong tyres on, there you go. The best you can get? So long as its dry.* So I said, look I've come this far I must at least do my couple of sighting laps. If I don't like it? I'll come in.* Poor John from BPL Honda was the first victim, crashing his 600 at the Chicane past shell oils. The bike has less miles than YT has birthdays. I stayed out for the duration of my session and *I loved it. It was wrong to ride in the conditions with what I had, but I'm not about to throw away the chance of a ride.* IMO What ensued was nothing short of a slaughter.* I won't go over old ground, it's already been mentioned.* I went out again 3rd session, the rain came down again true to form. I don't care I have my lucky leathers on. Not even the rain will come near them By this time both BPL Honda lads have seen the dirt.* Can't say I blame them but they spewed it off by 11.30 and headed for home.* Big up to everyone that made it. Nice to have a laydeeee in the garage too, Marion. Thanks for popping by.* Top effort from Barney who one again pulled all the stops for The guys to record the event in quality photo's.* And last but not least. A big up to you. Yes, You! The folks that subscribed and made the effort to meet up.* To end, I'd have been just as *happy to sit in the garage chatting with everyone for the whole day.* Money may be able to buy you a track day.* But without a Fcukin good bunch of lads around you it's just a track day.* Once again with all your imput. I have fond memories to look back on for a long time to come.* Thanks for helping me pop my cherry guys, I must have done it right. It was dripping * Any questions? Just ask.* *
This is the last time i open my big mouth about knee down and fast times!! Hopefully the next TD photos of me on here will have a little more class
Absolutely top draw barney!! Not only are the pictures quality and really help capture the spirit of the day, but the effort and commitment to stand in the pouring rain all day to take photos of us bunch of idiots is nothing short of outstanding. Thanks mate. Great write up Gary. Takes balls to get out there on your 1st td in those conditions on a bike you've never riden. And the video is the nuts al. Nice one
Awesome day. Not long in from a detour to pick something for Bruce up, unloading and dropping off the hire van. A huge thanks to Andy for putting us up and everyone else who made the day what it was. Great write up's, pictures and vids.
Well im fiberglassing the fairings at the weekend, the subframe is straightened and welding will commence on saturday. only cost me a footpeg! Looks like cadwell 16th is on! PLEASE BE DRY!!!!!
Young Tyke - there is a phrase 'you can't polish a turd' Are you sure it's possible to continue to re-weld that subframe? I am not sure I'd trust it for track use but you have prob. way more experience and skill than this desk jokey!
Yeah weve had a look at it al and should be ok theres enough space to tig a couple of braces kn the break point. the subframe is only supportin the battery tray and tail sectio and me altogether about 75kg and when its dry im hardly on the seat anyway.
