Hi guys, feel a bit of a fraud posting on here as I haven't bought my mike yet, just wanted to get some info from the forum before I take the plunge, to me picking a bike to buy is like choosing a woman to marry. I've only just passed my test 3 days ago, I've had an insurance quote from mce for £704 with £500 voluntary, I was a little surprised how high this premium is, but after reading some of the other guys posts on here, I realise that it ain't as bad as it could have been. I'm looking at a 2006 1000rr in black, I've been in contact with the current owner & I'm going to give the bike the once over on Saturday, so wish me luck. Thanks guys

Passed your test 3 days ago and your quote is that low, i'd bite their hand off ! i pay double your quote with £1500 excess, oh and btw everyone knows gods country is Somerset
Welcome to the forum, mate. For a new rider with a Blade I'd expect an absolutely astronomical premium. I'd snap their hands off at that price. Good luck with your purchase. I hope the bike's all you hope.
Bit suspicious this Ash as I'm pretty certain they worship trees in Wales. And anything powered by electricity, of course. Welcome Browndog.......no disrespect mate, I am little surprised how low the premium is with your experience. Everyone is different, but unless you have plenty of riding experience outside of taking your test, maybe better options for a first bike, don't wish to sound negative, these things are so easy to ride until they bite. That withstanding, enjoy the search what ever you get.
Not actually bad advice. I'm glad I went from a 75bhp bike to a 100bhp bike and spent 4 years riding around before buying the Blade. I made some fairly substantial mistakes within the first couple of years and I doubt I'd have been able to sort them out if I'd been on the Blade.
Agree with the above post its a lot of bike for a first road bike, I went 400 to 600 to 1000 and made a few mistakes which I could learn from doubt for a second I would of riden away on the blade when I did on the 400 ! But, a bike is controlled by one thing .... you wrist its as fast or as slow as you want it to be, get the blade enjoy it and build up slowly, I am by no means wanting to talk down to you or trying to sound high and mighty, im 33 been riding for 12 years on the road and still have a lot to learn Thats a great quote by the way
I said that to myself when I started out on my Ducati Monster. Take it easy, build your speed up slowly. Build your skill level. Don't go daft. I said it to myself like a mantra I was rinsing it out in every gear within half a mile of my house after getting home from passing my test and I like to think of myself as being very risk-aware and level-headed. It's just too tempting.
That's a bit like spending thousands to date Megan Fox but having her foof sewn up. Everyone thinks you're having fun but you're actually just paying dearly to be seen with someone who's beyond your level
I passed my test last April and went out and bought a RR7 as my first bike. For the first 30mins I found the acceleration from 8k onwards blisteringly quick and scary... After that period I fell in love with that part of the rev range and have struggled to avoid it ever since
It wasn't the straight line squirt that scared me it was arriving at corners faster than I had the know-how to get round
Oh I totally agree with that one!! They don't teach you proper counter steering in your test so I must admit there were a few occasions where I mounted the verge slightly trying to keep up with my more experienced brother round fast bends....
Yeah I still can't understand why they don't teach it. Seems to me it's one of the more important skills that you can actually learn!
Again totally agree! I wasn't taught any of the advanced skills I needed to ride a superbike during my training and test so had to resort to YouTube studying
