A rather nice Repsol Blade with 2 other bikes were followed by the hovering Nightmare, then it guided in the police Busa and traffic bike i'm pretty sure tickets were issued.I do hope the Repsol owner isn't on here cos he`s not going to be in a good mood... But on the upside we had a lucky escape.... The repsol Blade was about 2 minutes behind us...
Ouch, That's the fear of weekend / sunny Sunday riding - they will prob. be in serious trouble if the 'copter involved Where was this Ash?
I don't go out much at the weekends now as it's the Filth's favorite pass time of a Sat & Sun. Having said that I do appreciate being self employed gives me that freedom to go out on mid week afternoons when it's quite that PAYE members don't have.
Fridaythorpe is our local bike haunt.... Over by the East coast.Knowing the Helicopter is flying over head really puts you off your riding.I must have looked like a madwoman warning other bikers..
Week on,week off myself. Don't see much police midweek when I'm out. Police helicopter circling over my house last Friday, dog unit and armed cops going along the back gardens, hadn't even been out on my bike. Turns out they looking for suspect who had held up the local shop.
Was at Seaways, fridaythorpe yesterday,no sign of police or helicopters, don't know if that's a good thing or bad,it's what you don't see that can get you in to trouble,it's not an area to ride fast anymore.
They called the Police helicopter out when some old dear wandered out of the old folks home near to where I live!........ Always thought they chained them up at night
Always shit my pants when I'm travelling a bit and see that thing above me. The police are very keen around the Scarborough area got pulled up a few weeks back for a friendly chat informed me about a fatality on his last shift and to keep it safe.
I presume your joking, rather than just thinking selfishly about yourself? Pet hate and I'm going to have a mini rant as I know a few first responders in the peak district... But... It's the thousands spent scraping you off the road they like to prevent, and the weeks and weeks for the coroners inquest into your death...and the hours / days the road is closed... And post traumatic stress of the poor member of public that is first on scene... And the nightmares for the paramedics and clean up team that have to pick each bit of you up. Your life they are not all that bothered about, but they can't just leave you on the side of the road like they do in India.
so why do you own a blade if you are only going to ride it at 60mph ?... might as well buy a 125cc. totally get your point about paramedics etc, but the police are just out to get as many bikes off the road as possible ,because they are noisy things that are disturbing the peace and quiet of rich people that live in the countryside. when did you last see a copper pull some kids riding up your street on motorcrossers with no helmets or licence?
Reminds me of that ride out a few of us had on here... we all thought we were being followed by the pigs in the skies and pulled over in gate helmsley when our mirrors were filled with blue flashing lights, "oh shit.....". Turns out they were escorting a high security prisoner to full sutton! N Yorkshire really is getting to be more of a cop dodging do than a ride out nowadays tho. Tis a shame but nearly every week I hear of another fatal accident in the area
The fatalities haven't been happening in that area(Fridaythorpe),yet the Helicopter,Busa and police bike are there most Sundays.Easy pickings me thinks....
If you see if from the police side they have loads of bike blasting through their county to the coast , many at daft speeds, have to deal with it when it goes wrong and a public who no doubt put pressure on for action. As Y.T. Says, if it's becoming a no go area then it's working, or just pick your time / location for a run out with care.
I was riding up the m1 last week behind an X5 when he pulled over to middle lane I went to past. His back lights started flashing blue!! Wondered what the hell was going on pulled over in front and continued only to have him pass me. Pulled over in front of me then flashed his blue light again at a car passing him.. Never seen this before so I thought I would pass and check him out. Copper sat driving ! Watch out
Marion,i seem to be spending more time looking out for The helicopter,Busa, police bike, camera van that looks like a silver camper van,the clapped out old red Volvo,The silver BMW,the Black Skoda... and the policeman holding a hair dryer... and thats just on that stretch of road.Instead i should be watching for Tractors, holiday makers who don't know where they're going, wildlife, dick heads in sports cars with small penises.. Oh no !!! this is turning into a rant.. best stop here....
couldnt agree more... spend too much time looking behind me in my mirrors and in fields / side roads and even upwards ,instead of looking forwards for things that i should be observing. i went to the isle of man earlier this year , stuck religiously to the speed limits in the towns , and rode the blade the way mr honda designed it to be ridden in the open speed limit areas without fear of going to prison for speeding... absolute bliss.
