Went for a ride to Bognor with Dave v and Co and came back with this lot after 5 hrs of riding. All three seperate incidents, whatever black thing hit me in the arm was either a bat or starling.I don't bruise easily either. Looks like I've got some work to do with repainting that cowling. Will get something to protect it this time. tyres 110.jpg tyres 109.jpg tyres 111.jpg

Birds don't half wreck bikes.i have hit a seagull and a pheasant and both
Times it looked like I crashed the bike . snapped metal fairing mounts/clocks etc.
I would say you probably got away lightly. Hope you get it all sorted easy enough

    Bugger

Feckin' flying things are a PIA sometimes.

Last year a wood pigeon flew into my shoulder when I was doing about 85. It was like getting punched. Completely wrenched my hand off the bars. I still shudder to think what would've happened if it'd hit me in the throat

I wouldn't care but it was flying head on towards me at whatever speed pigeons fly at. God knows what the closing speed was but I'm fairly sure that the poor pigeon split into two pieces. Thank god for shoulder armour.

Yep add me to the Pigeon carnage, hit one at around 50 square in the chest, exploded all over me, feathers and gunk inside the lid, looked like an extra for a horror movie, then ended up with a bruise the size of a football on my chest next day, and they weigh about feck all, you have to experience it to believe it.

I will second that Kentblade same as you took a Pigeon on the inside right arm right where the soft fabric meets the leather I saw it coming in and would swear the bike sucked it towards me leathers took the hit and nothing was left and within a day and a half a nice big black bruise arrived taking up the full upper arm.

Funny thing is a pigeon or a starling weigh feck all, but the impact feels like something twice the size and weight. Like a good punch yes definately.
