Best thing to do is apply a piece of venture shield or the likes to the area to stop the scratching and damaging the paint work.
Recently fitted self adhesive Lizard Skins mtb frame protectors. Don't know how long they'll last, though.
I put some venture shied on but that look shyte within a few weeks so pulled it off and left it as is. I think worn paint in that area looks better than a Piss yella stained bito sticky stuff IMHO!
Ive read a lot of posts on this damage, I seem to have been lucky (not sure why). maybe I ride with charlie chaplain feet. Fortunately no damage, and I keep checking as Ive saved some Arai stickers to whack there. Same cant be said for the finish on the footrests they are well scuffed
Tried all kinds of tape and nothing yet has held out for any length of time. Next up I'm going to try some stomp grip or similar type material. If some enterprising individual made carbon protectors - not the full sided ones, but just small sections to cover the scuff locations, as per the ones I have on my Street Triple - I'm sure they'd be a successful product. http://www.carbon4u.com/sitebuilder...res/C4U-Shop/ST-D675-small-swingarm-cover.jpg
Nerd alert, are all the affected riders wearing alpinestars smx+ boots? They have a really chunky heal
Yep, I have these for summer and a set of Daytonas for wet/winter. The SMX's do scratch but I've used black insulation tape cut into 3" sections and triple layered to prevent scratching. Works a treat but it needs at least the top layer replacing every so often. Go over the top with ACF-50 and the colour just about matches the swing arm black Sam
Bet mine previous owner did! ... I always were cheap boots because I hate my feet and they are only worth £20 each ...
Same problem with mine although I have Sidi Vertigo boots, the paint on my tank is also showing damage just from my vice like thighs. If I was aware this was a problem I'd have used Venture shield or similar but now I'll have to try to restore the paint finish on the tank.
I wear Sidi Vertigo and it happends to mine as well... I put Ventura on the area THEN covered that with an Arai sticker... Also on the boot, I have put the soft side of velcro on the offending area...
Has anybody tried some of the carbon vinyl sheets rather than the venture shield? Was just wondering how this stuff wears in regards to things scratching or buffing against it, also shouldn't yellow the same as the clear plastic vinyl venture shield.
I've got some carbon look tape .. but .. I have little hope of making a good job of it, judging by the curves in the surface under the area of the arm with the problemo
I put an R&G gel sticker just where my heel of my Sidi boot rubs - worked for me View attachment 13500
Thinking Out Of The Box - As opposed to putting something on the swinging arm, why not put some type of non abrasive pad (Velcro Etc) on the inner heel of your riding boots so that you don't scratch the swinging arm.
