Just bought a PCV off e bay. Got it all fitted then seen that part number is different. On power commander website it says my bike should have a 16-002 but the one I have fitted is a 16-029. Is there anything different with these two units? Everything except O2 eliminator seemed to connect up ok.
The 16-029 is off a Honda cb600f hornet! Did u fit the unit? Is all the plugs correct and connecting as per fitting instructions? I have a unit for a gsxr600 fitted to by gsxr750 which dynojet also have different part numbers for each but the only difference is the actual map that is installed/uploaded to the pc5 from the factory! Moral of the story as long as the plugs all fit your bike as per the instructions for your bike then just upload a map that suits your bike/mods and away you go.
I'd say the morale of this story is don't buy S/H shyte of Fleabay at the face value of the sellers description.
All connectors fitted fine other than O2 eliminator. New one being sent. I have put a map on for my bike. Just waiting for new O2 eliminator and will give it a try. Did not think the units would all be different but wanted some advise.
You could leave your o2 sensor connected to test if your bike will fire up ok, that way you wont receive any error codes as the sensor is present but I wouldnt ride about till the new eliminator is fitted but at least you could check if the pcv is all working on your bike!
The only thing I see different between the two is the one I have fitted plugs into each injector like the 2012 version.
No, will try it tomorrow. Is it correct to say though that all plugs connected up ok. I have a map installed for my bike. The only diffrence of the units is the pre installed maps?
No! I can't tell you for sure only dynojet know the exact differences between it's model numbers! I can only tell you my experience with my pcv for my model, I had done quite a bit of research to make sure that I could use the models that I was intending on purchasing! I know a lot of pc3 models covered a lot of the same manufacturers bikes but again that was for Suzuki models! Again only the map was the difference!
+1 on this. I have just fitted a CB1000R PCV to my Blade, apart from the O2 eliminator (had to by one separately) it all fits and works correctly. Much of the time the PCs are the same but the harness are different lengths to ensure a perfect fit. Occasionally though, the TPS connects properly it will not work as they may be wired differently on other models. If the TPS connection doesn't work give Dynojet a call, sometimes it’s only a case of swapping round wires. FYI don’t do what I did and attach the TPS connector to the MAP sensor, looks the same and in a similar position!
Hello there, I have just rang Dynojet and they have confirmed what your saying. Only problem may be TPS. Tonight I will remove and check wires. They told me if I un plug it the Black wire needs to be on left, Grey in middle and brown on right looking from TPS end of plug. The TPS is the more difficult one to get to isnt it??
The TPS is on the right hand side as you sit on the bike, it's located under the air box, you can only unclip it by slotting a flat bladed screw driver between the air box and the frame. The MAP sensor is also on the right side but not so hidden - it will have a vacuum pipe connected to it. If you have connected to the MAP it will 4v when trying to calibrate the TPS . Before you cut any wires do check it works. When plugging in a laptop the %throttle should change between 0 and 100% when twisting the grip (you do not need the engine running to test!) But as I said the TPS's on different models (especially between 600 and 1000) may require a bit of cutting and soldering. Luckily if you ask Dynojet (Richard is the tech guy) are always pleased help. This may help Please help! Can a PCV from a 600rr work?? - Page 2.
All wiring is fine. Martin from Dyno jet has e mailed me a map. I have it on software but wont transfer. How do I copy and paste it onto PC5. Does ignition of bike need to be on??
I assume you already have the DJ software on your laptop. Just save the map in the default map directory and plug into the usb. The ignition doesn't need to be on. Normally you just open the map and click the send button, what error are you getting?
Not sure what I was doing wrong. Just plugged back in and save map that was on then pressed send Map with new one open. Do I need to send table??
Yes, open up the software first on the lappy and USB it to the PCV, it should then detect and connect, open the map DJ sent to you then click send map. If this doesnt work you could open the map dj sent you, click the extreme top/left of the table (where 500rpm and 0% throttle meet), the table should go grey then press ctrl a, ctrl c. Then click get map, again top/left of the table then ctrl v, then click send map. Just check the max RPM is the same as the map DJ sent you.
Hello slick. Yes send map worked when I tried so all done. I have also turned on ignition whist all plugged in and throttle value changes when I twist so all good to go I think. Thanks for your help.
If you haven't already just check the throttle calibration, should be 0% at 0 throttle and only reach 100% at full gas.
