has any one gone down the route of changing the rear sets, does it really make that much of a difference in comfort and feel etc ?

Im 5'9" and I can honestly say that even by just moving the pegs back 1" has stopped the pain in my knees. I have ridden for 6-7 hours now without any issues.

So IMO I'd say a massive yes.

    thanks ColinBR,
    im thinking of getting these
Honda CBR 1000 RR 2011 Vario 50mm Adjustable Rear Footrests Foot Peg | eBay

so my question now is, do I need a 30mm or 50mm extension, if you say 1inch make a big difference then im guessing a 30mm will be enough.

I have the Gilles version which can be set at 30mm or 40mm. This is currently set on the 30 & the reach to the gear shift is still okay (Athough I did have to lower the lever a little). When I rotated them back further (only another 5mm back), I was struggling with gear change.

    Find Your Bike

Ask for Jamie & specify if you want the 20mm spacer or the one like mine which has 30 & 40mm holes.

Swiss does that kit basically let you adjust position of foot pegs but everything else stays standard?

Swiss, do you find the gear leavers a little too far in now, notice it more when changing up ? the kit takes the foot rest out by 10mm doesn't it.

    No mate; not for me.

I ride with the balls of my feet near the ends of the pegs & move my feet into the gear change/brake position when needed, then return to the rest position on the ends of the pegs.

This solution isnt perfect, nor is it a good a rearsets. For me however, it works. Gilles are good kit & once you find a comfortable position there is no need to adjust further.

I am tempted to drill/tap another hole at 20mm & rotate them back a little further.

You can also buy an adjustable gear lever but you might as well go for the rearsets if going that far.
