Well I have been and done it now. Elite class Excellent day out for me. The one to one tuition is expensive but worth it. I took 10 seconds off my final session laptime on the last lap. What is quite surprising is that you only use the first 3 gears on the Fireblades. Ron Haslam was there as was Leon, I was told Sam Lowes was also circulating but I didn't see him without his helmet on so I'll have to take Paul, my instructors', word for it. Paul was a great instructor he listened to what I hoped to achieve on the day and made it possible. I am not sure I will use my new found skills on the road, but it is nice to know they are there if I need them. Ron with male passenger Nice Patriotic helmet. Good on you Ron Ron with female passenger. I have a video of this if I can suss out how to upload it. He took two female passengers out not sure which is which. Bit fuzzy I know. End of part one
Part Two Giving it the beans down the straight, not that you can tell from the pics On your marks Still loves his motorbikes does our Ron Everyone in while we clear up the mess I think only the Elites get the Datalogging Brew time. with chocolate biscuits End of part two
Part 3 Obviously this is a picture of Ron on the TV screen. Filling up and not paying for it is a great experience Ron again on the 500s I don't know any of these peeps I know the pics aren't great but if you are going I hope it gives you a flavour of what to expect.
Expensive but worth every penny I thought. A great few hours out on track. Nice work knocking 10 seconds off your time! What time did you end up with as your best lap in the end?
I got about 1 hr 5 mins. There is a break between each session, when you have an informal chat about your riding and a cuppa.
Ooooooooooh won't be long till we will be takin fotys n headin out on track, but not on the elite blade bikes! But really lookin forward to it and we also get to meet up our very own mod Martin for first time! Bring it on, n cheers for sharin rush.
Why do you only use 3 gears? I've done the On Track and Premier class courses on the same day back in 2008 and I really enjoyed it. I had only just passed my test but my bike back then was the 07 600RR so it felt good to ride their 600RR. I wish I could do the Elite class but I need to redo the Premier class first.
You don't need to use any more than the first three gears, especially if you are learning. Both Melbourne and Goddards were taken in first gear as instructed. The rest of the lap there isn't really time to get into fourth gear as the straights are relevantly short. Don't forget I am just the learner on track.
