Hi all,I'm looking at buying some Probolt goodies and the question I've got is this "Is it worth spending the extra money on Titanium or will Stainless Steel do same job?"
Both are good materials , I have stainless an Titanium parts on bike . Titanium is much lighter , but stainless does look good an costs much less .
That being said Kev you would have everything titanium if you could. I'll be getting titanium caliper mounting bolts and disc bolts asap.
I'm intending on fitting renthal sprockets,so I take it using titanium bolts and nuts would reduce the spinning weight further. But would this weight loss make enough difference to justify the cost of titanium?
Think alley would be lighter again so if its purely weight reduction use it as its also the cheapest. We'd struggle to justify most mods we do to our road bikes. If your thinking about it this much, go for stainless as its a good compromise, the heaviest of the three though I think.
You're right,especially to our other halves Will prob end up with titanium for brake bolts,that's the plan to do them first. Not so sure if I'd like the stainless,they look a lot more shiny than the titanium stuff.
You need a "Jimbo" like I've got, great for blaming when the discussion starts with the wife! Personally, I'm planning to use titanium on the RRA (race spec) and stainless own the 929. Won't do a mass change out, just bits at a time. Although will probably go for one of the cheaper firms for things like fairing fastenings. Got a great stainless fairing kit that Si recommended on the 929 for £20.
The rear sprocket titanium nuts look the dogs too. I've got them and although I will admit to not finding a difference I'm glad I bought them. Can we get a group deal for Pro Bolt or have Andy's help.
What colour? I was thinking of getting the gold titanium nuts and sprocket bolts to match renthal sprocket and tsubaki chain.

Once you start it's hard to stop Gonna do a wee bit every month or I'll bankrupt myself,especially as I've just ordered the LighTech chain adjusters after seeing them on a bike on this forum
