So popped down to see the folks tonight, nice shandy and steak dinner (cheers mum)... Thought I'd change to clear visor.... Popped of the visor and yup, side pod gone... Aaahhh

Done it before and the only real negative to arai IMO but only done it forcing the visor on, never taking off which makes me think that the pods eventually wear out....

Anyway, tapped the pod on Dave v style and head home.

Give it some beans onto motorway and see ya visor... Double fcuk!! Ok, needed new one anyway and still have spare pod at home, not end of the world...

But no, visor ripping off pulled the good pod off, only have spare for one I broke, so now have a lid which looks like this.....

And need new visor, pinlock, and x2 side pods.

Peed right off.... Think it might be the end of a beautiful relationship :(

I'm the same. Recently had two RX7 on the shelf and one good side pod between them!
Through constant soakings etc I ended up bringing a 15 year old Shoei out for a day or so just to tide me over. That well used lid was still quieter, comfier, and better put together than current Arai offerings. It's not just me either as a few mates who wear Arai have issues with bits falling if their lids.
I will vote with my wallet next time.

I see this a lot and do think the pods or their fixings do wear out or fatigue with visor replacement.

It's just not just the £40 the pods cost, but normally have to be ordered, and in this instance will be £70 for new visor and pinlock on top...

Ill get it done as too nice not to have, but will be the track lid.... Ill get something else for everyday use / touring... Just not practical if the keep going.

Lid has done 20k+ in the year I've had it, but should last better than that!

Only reason I got it in the 1st place was my pod on old lid snapped on motorway up to Scotland so I was goosed as shop had no parts :(

Totally agree. Use it a lot on tour and in all weather so change a fair bit. But think they get brittle

It was the "popped side pods" for a second time that made me change........and watching that "You tube Arai Visor change" makes me sick.......but we ll never know if he fucked up too ? and yes I was surprised that a Premium product should start falling to bits within 12 months of frequent use......I wont be going back to Arai......

I change the visor no probs, happily remove the pods and oil it / clean blah blah so not like I don't know how they work...

But fcuk it should be better than that for £500!!!!

Like I say, great lid and will use on track, but can't be arsed with it breaking miles from home or worse on tour!

Arai side pod clips are crap, they break far too easily.

I have two new clear visors belonging to a mate for sale !

And got a new spare side pod but its off a Hayden I think.

I did look at Arai but they didn't fit my head well. Two mates have them and both are always moaning about their pods too.Apart from that they rate em highly and wouldn't change to another make.

Ive had loads snap, you can get them on bidding from a 5'er if your lucky but cheapest one type fits all is buy the smoked clear ones for 20 quid! I keep a spare pack of clear should one snap and add a automatic search on eBay as they come up cheap from time to time, Ive a collection of RX7s so pays to watch for them.

Tried glueing them soooo many times.....lol
