Nice to have a Police officer on here. Always good to have people who may be able to give advice. And i'm glad this has been taken the right way. As I said in my first post I just wanted to get peoples views.
Ta mate, must be difficult sometimes having to deal with 'colleagues' who you know give a bad impression of police officers. JD
Oh yeah, regarding being pleasantly surprised at the response so far. I'm also a member of Gixerjunkies and they are generally a good bunch, but a thread of this nature would also have brought out some nasty comments unfortunately. Although I'm not a long-standing member I have a feeling that won't be the case on this site. JD
I've got a couple of mates who are bobbies (long term service) and they are great chaps, another guy who's an ex traffic copper (retired) comes out with us, and he always says the new breed of the Police are a different kettle of fish in comparison to the older guys. Too gung-ho and inexperienced. I've had good and bad, same in every job really, but the last guy who pulled me for my plate was a right knob, condescending and arrogant....and spoke to me like shit. I was far from friendly with him as he went around the pull the wrong way. I wasn't speeding or doing anything erratic, he simply did a u-turn, overtook the other 5 bikes that i was with, and flashed me down. He could have simply let me off with a warning, as having a smaller plate 1inch less than standard, imo, does not constitute a crime for gods sake. Yes, we all know the rules, but there are more things to life than getting some angry biker copper pulling you for a small plate. Coppers like him give the rest a bad name. You could tell by the look on his partners face that he was over the top, and didn't even smile at my "other toy has tits" slogan on the bottom.... :-D, although his colleague did. Everyone on gods earth breaks the law, every day...and a lot of the time, a bit of discretion is worth it just for the better rep-ore between the Police and civvies. Another traffic copper in N.Wales last year pulled my mate and i over as we overtook him (unmarked), we were way over the speed limit. He put his blues on after a few secs and we pulled right over. He got out, gave us a blocking for excess speed and told us another bobby was down the road and he would do us properly, so keep to the limit. He never said anything about the loud cans or dark visor or small plate. He was a really nice bloke, and we both said that all coppers should be like that, firm but fair. Unfortunately though, the minority of nasty ones spoil it for the rest of them, and i really think they are not well liked amongst their colleagues.
Interesting would that be North wales? I know they have issues with bikers up there. I ask as many many of my fast road riding is down in south and mid wales. I've never had any issues with the police there and they are always nice providing your not riding like a twat Benn I also felt that before I posted this thread the members on here would keep it sensible. One reason why this is one of the most enjoyable forums I post one and spend much of my time on
I fully agree Benn. I have been on a few forums and although they are generally OK, this forum seems to be a proper family of like minded "sensible" people.
