Alright folks, would really appreciate some advice.......

back in Jan I brought an rr8 non ABS in burgundy ("candy glory red") and black. The burgundy I feel is a slightly unloved colour, certainly in my camp anyway.... I've just never been keen. The bike also showed signs of having been down the road on one side, scuffs on engine casings, bar ends, levers etc etc. The fairing was gleaming. The reason I bought it:- It only had 3000 miles on it and I picked it up for 3.5k plus my 11 year old gixer 600. A couple of months ago I low sided and increased the damage. I have since put it all right and am back in the game at square one. nice to have a blank canvass though.....

I'd like to go to town on the mods over the next couple of seasons but as an experiment want to keep them strictly british and make the most of whats to offer on our fine islands. Does anyone have any suggestions???

Next question............... I'm thinking of a racefit "black edition" exhaust. I love the Factory look and have heard they sound divine. Has anyone had any experience with them and if so am I going to have snags with an MOT?

Would really appreciate any advice folks I'm fairly green when it comes to modding.

    much love,

    Tug!

Sound of exhaust is down to the mot'ers discretion, mot bike mot stations are bikers and mark down as advisory "noisey exhaust" my jardine is very loud and isn't made with a baffle option and not had an issue :)

Not for the black edition mate, have to modify the muffle so it looks like the growler, the growler one does fit but you have to drill a small hole to allow the baffle to fix.

MOT tester told me there isnt a noise law on exhausts yet as there is no
standard set for testing the level.he did however say if the can was marked
race only or not for road use then it will fail.I have MOT'ed loads of different
bikes, all with real loud cans and never got knocked back yet.
the panigale is an interesting one to MOT, they kick out 110db standard lol

If it has not for road use stamped on it just stick a sticker over the stamp, infact you can stick chewing gum over it or a heavy smudge of grease if you really want as the tester is not allowed to remove anything attached to the vehicle :D
    What they can't see isn't there ;)

Police can give a bike an asbo or section 58 order.

If they have a standard comparable bike they can use a meter I think and say your bike is.excessive loud

With r+g, gb racing, beowulf, evotech, harris, skidmarx, lust, (all British) just off the top of my head you'll have your bike looking almost as nice as mine in no time. And it'll probably be much cleaner.

It's a section 59 and is essentially an ASBO but with a vehicle. The section 59 is for both the vehicle and driver/rider and if you get two in a twelve month period then your vehicle can be confiscated. Of course each force has a subjective view on what actually constitutes an offence for the purposes of a section 59.

Yep I had a section 59 the day I bought my escort cosworth a few years back, I didn't think way I did was inappropriate but they did!
I pulled onto a dual carriageway and saw a single headlight in my rear view mirror so I decided to see how my new car would compare against a bike, it turned out this single light also had some blue lights to show off too :(

I was honest with the bike cop and said I just got it and thought I would test it out which he was not amused with and slapped a section 59 on me.
Basically he had no evidence of me speeding but had the power to give a sec 59 without any evidence what so ever

God I miss that car :(

    Bang on Jimbo.

The baffle for the standard growler will go in the black edition, but Racefit state the end cap should be changed.

I got hold of a baffle off a pal, works fine. Did have to drill a hole in the end and tbh, looks shit so haven't bothered using it.

It's one loud exhaust, but on full chat with the quickshifter doing its thing it's really something else- I love it!

Been on my bike all year, done plenty of miles including our euro tour and to date haven't been pulled by the old bill, although like Jimbo says zee Germans at the ring were far from impressed!

    Perhaps I've been lucky?

    Baffle in, looks poo IMO

Don't recall seeing "not for road use" stamped on it anywhere.

Be warned though mate, it really is anti social.

Your welcome mate- remember when I bought mine at the excel show and felt the weight of it, honestly you'll be amazed how little it weighs.

The fits awesome, straight on no messing at all. Once the originals off takes all of 10 mins max. IMO, a quality piece of kit.

Let us know how you get on with it

section 59's are a right pain, sure you can get them for just riding around the same area too much.
I thought they were doing away with the whole asbo thing?

Dave you gone for something less loud? That pipe was bloody loud especially when it barks, alot of people jumped when you cracked it open.Watching them was funny.
As for section 59 yes they are a pain in the neck, mine runs out next month thats why my baffle is still in:D
